What kind of plane is this?

Junie replies: That's a Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter. They were designed as cargo variants of the B-29 and were eventually developed further into the 337 Stratocruiser, a direct competitor to the Douglas DC-6 and the Lockheed L-1049 t by at was terrible.

The only reason I didn't send it to you directly is because there was no signal out there, lol

That ship is N227AR, which started life as a refueling tanker in the 50s before being converted back into a cargo aircraft in the late 50s. It landed in Dodgeville in 1977, and its main gear was so wide it was 3 feet off the sides of the runway.

It's sat idle since.
