The end of an era - After almost a century we said goodbye this morning to our great companion of the airwaves Radio 4 198 LW. I shall miss her warmth and crackle. Here’s the final sign off at the end of #theshippingforecast before she fell silent… ❤️

Hi Amanda, glad you enjoyed it. I think it was one of our conductor Michael Englands arrangements. I’m sure if you reach out to him, he’ll be able to tell you.

Yesterday - Feb 17th was Ron Goodwin’s 100th birthday. I’ve always loved his music especially after seeing him in Dublin many years ago with @rte_co. Can I recommend this hour of pure joy from the ever brilliant @DrMatthewSweet on @BBCRadio3 www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

As an added bonus to #shippingforecast 100 on @BBCRadio4. I asked my colleagues Jane Steel and Tom Sandars to read some of the extra emails I received from listeners telling me what the ‘Ships’ meant to them. We couldn’t fit them all in the ‘Haven’ programme! www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
