Today marks eight years since the gruesome murder of journalist #JamalKhashoggi, who was assassinated and dismembered by a team of Saudi agents. His body has never been found. In light of the total absence of justice for the murder, we continue to call for #JusticeForJamal.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Madiha al-Ajroush. Al-Ajroush played a vital role in advancing women’s rights in Saudi Arabia, and through her clinical practice, supported many patients, including survivors of domestic violence and refugees. We extend our condolences to her loved ones.

Yesterday Saudi authorities executed three more Ethiopian nationals on "hashish smuggling" charges. These come despite the recent announcement that 2000 Ethiopians detained in Saudi Arabia received royal pardons. It was unclear when the pardons were granted or which detainees got them.

Nine years ago, #SaudiArabia's authorities arrested Islamic scholar Hassan Farhan al-Maliki for exercising his right to freedom of expression. He is still in prison today, without having been sentenced, even though his trial began in 2018. #FreeSeptember2017Detainees

More than 150 executions (152) have now been carried out in Saudi Arabia in 2026, with the majority (99) for drug-related offences alone. Over the past two days, an Omani and an Egyptian national have been executed on such charges.

In an arbitrary assault on freedom of expression online, X has complied with a request from the Saudi authorities to restrict our accounts from reaching audiences in Saudi Arabia, in a form of “geo-blocking”. Many other accounts have been subjected to the same restriction.
