after hearing that, I just. every time I see someone act cruel, express doubt about trauma's ability to influence terrible fantasies. I just think about how it would feel to shout that in the face of that kind, loving, now-departed soul who did so much for my friend

they talked one last time on their SO's deathbed, held each other's hands, and the SO made them promise they would stay strong and not let their death ruin them they held hands as the flatline came in

said SO was one of the kindest, dearest people ever, I'm told but very sadly, their SO also had a terminal illness said friend came to me wallowing in untold pain and sorrow when the day what they knew would happen happened

this topic is very personal to me because one of my best friends used to be very heavily on the aforementioned side, but they soon learned their SO struggled with post-traumatic gangr*** fantasies about their h*ghsch**l self which was this big emotional vulnerable reveal to them

a few years ago I recall it leaning heavily to the "literally fuck off instantly if you are -X- about this topic, no matter what, I hate you you are disgusting" side (exaggerating) so it does make me happy you seem to have a more nuanced approach towards this re: traumatized victims and their coping

probably revealing a bit of terminal-onlineness here, but i vividly recall seeing the statement of opinion on this topic/the byf warning in your bio evolve and change over time, which told me "ah yeah there's probably some trauma and insecurity (not meant in a bad way) here, I know that feeling"
