I just came back from the basque country, where the 54th (my 1st!) european group conference was held this year - I feel immensely lucky to have gotten to spend time with and learn from new and old abolitionist comrades who also believe that a different world (and a different academia) is possible!

"Oxford Student Action for Refugees (...) has been part of the coalition campaigning to shut Campsfield immigration detention centre (...). A recent investigation (...) revealed [Oxford U]niversity’s links with Mitie, the contractor that won a £170m government contract to run the Campsfield centre."

🧵Take action: Stop the expansion of Campsfield! 🪧🚨 1. The Home Office is pushing to expand Campsfield IRC, from 160 to 400 bed spaces. This is being done through the Crown Development Route, a planning system that delegates the decision to the Planning Inspectorate, bypassing the local authority.
