Taking over D.C. is part of Trump’s MAGA agenda, and make no mistake, it all comes down to Making America White Again and restoring white supremacy and white power. It has nothing to do with keeping anyone safe. He’s starting with Washington, D.C. because Home Rule in D.C. is still relatively new, and the boundaries and legal realities have not been put to the test.

Mark my words, if military rule comes to D.C. he will bring it to other minority-majority cities (or cities with large Black populations) under the guise of keeping people safe. But the only folks that he’s interested in keeping safe are white people.

I don’t think that every legacy soap opera deserves a re-launch but All My Children absolutely does because those folks tried so hard to adjust with the changing times and the audience simply wasn’t able to move with them.

What ABC should do is repackage (as in re-edit) the final “season” of AMC to capture some of the final storylines and the last episode and encapsulate them into a special event (some of this of course would be based on who is and isn’t returning and there could be some obvious recasting).

I hope that ABC is looking at the success of Beyond the Gates, and I hope that they are seeing this as an opportunity to bring back All My Children. The folks behind AMC tied so hard to keep that show going but their ideas were just a few years ahead of their time.

I have been saying for years and years that daytime soaps needed to make a comeback. Somebody must’ve heard because they created Beyond the Gates which is the first soap to premiere in like 30 years when the art form had all but died out. And by all accounts, it’s doing well. I’ve been enjoying it.

The re-normalization of the r-word, Trumpism, Democrats censuring Al Green, the rolling back of DEI, and Gavin Newsom saying that trans athletes in women’s sports Is unfair are all related issues. We are in a rightward shift in this country.
