The Disney renaissance movies used to look different. They were planned to be printed on 35 mm film -- that's how they were first released. Modern editions skip that last step in the process. It was a highly developed, overlooked craft, as we explore: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/disneys-fi...

Having to draw a youtube thumbnail after having finished the video itself is so hard. I never have the bandwidth for it at that point

On a KOG note, very excited. Can’t say much but I think ep 2’s gonna be a good litmus test of who will actually be into this show. So fucking proud of the team. No, I can’t say anything about dates. Time to drop offline again. 🏃‍♀️

Naoki Tate's art fighting for dear life underneath all the corrections lmao. You can also just make out a drawing or two of Shimanuki's that survived 😔

Each of the top four players have a real shot at becoming world #1 after the US Open, and the current world #2 has the biggest lead. Wackiness like this is why I love tennis.

I'm actually really happy with how a lot of what I has turned out. It's a shame I won't be able to finish the whole video because it was an idea that was stupidly too big. I'm still going to finish what I have though

Solo animating a feature length film on 1s takes a level of perseverance and integrity that I just do not have. What an astounding achievement.

Steered clear of the leaks and finally watched Avatar Aang today. What an absolutely monumental artistic feat - the likes of which I have not seen for a VERY long time. I was moved to tears multiple times from the visuals alone. The animation, the backgrounds, the compositing - it's all 11/10. WOW!

Damn. My dad cried twice in the Odyssey. I have never seen him cry once, let alone twice before.

Thank god I never saw Obsession in theaters. I would've straight up shat myself. What a brilliant and unsettling film. Holy crap

Watched Obsession the other night. Not sure I can add much that hasn't already been said, but it was fantastic. Extremely unsettling subversion of the nice guy trope, packed full of interesting commentary on codependency, coercion, and manipulative relationship dynamics. Really got under my skin.

I *really* wanted to like this as both a huge fan of Milly Alcock and the original comic, but it's just not very good. Yeah, it's a bad adaptation, but that's not why it's bad - it's just a very dull movie with plodding pacing and poor direction. Its admittedly solid emotional highs can't save it!

I know I’ve gotten back into animating when the project I set for myself is way too big for myself But I’m gonna do it anyway!

Alex @alllexgoodwin.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

I sometimes catch myself rewatching wips for personal projects, but not because I'm looking for mistakes but because I actually want to see what happens next as a viewer (even though I haven't made it yet😅). I always take that as a good sign

The pros of storyboarding the same thing multiple times - you can pick the best of each board The cons - you have to pick between two great choices for the same thing, and continuity can be annoying

Sometimes you wonder why a notoriously nice veteran animator has been so vocal in criticizing his latest production, then he reveals he left the studio on bad terms. Made to endure a tough situation, no reaction after saying he'll resign, no severance package after many decades. I'd be pissed too

“Creative breakthroughs happen when visionary storytellers are given access to transformative tools”-- Actually, creative breakthroughs happen when people don't have to drink brown water from data center waste. This is not cool or accessible, this is disingenuous & disappointing.

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:

And he said, "If everyone likes it, it means it's mainstream. It means it's conventional. It means it's already pre-digested for people to like it. And I don't want that. I want people to end up liking things they didn't like when they first encountered it, because that's where you really end up loving something."

Sharing this post from Maryco over on X, where she posted a 33 page PDF on how she was groomed by @farfromani.bsky.social , the head of Butapro. Glad she spoke up, absolutely damning. drive.google.com/file/d/1TxOA...

a post from Maryco on X that reads as follows.

" I was 14 and he was 23. I was groomed by @FARfromani
and it lasted throughout my adolescence. I want to talk about it because I don't want something like this to happen again to anyone else. "

There is a drive link titled: "Farfromani Grooming.pdf"
