I am so sick of the stupid YouTube Claude Code ads done like an interview, with Boris (I think that's his name?) that is just sitting there grinning like an idiot with the exact same grin in every ad. It's just weird and off-putting. The guy may be perfectly nice and whatever, but those ads... ugh.

So for science, I got a Goldenmate UPS earlier this week. They use LiFePO4 batteries rather than traditional lead acid. I just tested it with all the stuff I wanted to have backup power and was getting a reported potential 3 hour runtime. That is insane to me.

I hate how now you can find pictures of pretty much anything, but it's extremely difficult to find pictures of places and things from the 80s and 90s. I have so many memories about places in my home town, but can't find pictures of them.

It's crazy how much thought the developers have put into #vintagestory. I know a lot of people approach it like it's minecraft, but it's so different with so many detailed aspects. As an example, I was looking up how to harvest and transplant fruit trees and they even have a vernalization cycle!

I found out this week that I couldn't even pay my rent without having to essentially turn over all my financial information (transactions, statements, etc.), to the "rewards" company my apartment complex has decided is our payment portal.

I really miss a lot of the weird/cheap sandwich/deli meat stuff. There are lots of things I grew up on, which I jokingly refer to as "square ham", "rectangle turkey", etc., and... it just doesn't seem to exist anymore or at least isn't sold where I live.

I am so fucking sick of fake AI bullshit. My apartment complex's office won't even let me talk to a person on the phone anymore, only a "virtual agent" pretending to be a person where they've added fake office sounds in the background while you're talking to it (muffled voices, ringing phones).

I was trying to set up a photo organization/sharing solution that was #self-hosted using #ente, since it's end-to-end encrypted and seems pretty nice. But damn, the self-hosting aspects of it are just so wonky that I don't feel I could depend on it at all. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I finished Indiana Jones and the Great Circle last night. It was such a good game and such an #IndianaJones story! I took my time to try and explore every aspect I could, do all the side quests, etc. I really, really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the DLC!

I've noticed when reading any WaPo Q&A sessions with journalists that the journalists, whomever they are, are never, ever wrong. They defend the media 100% constantly, deflecting about the lack of coverage by pointing to a single, obscure story that got posted about the topic.

As amazing as USPS is for delivering mail pretty much anywhere, sometimes they are really, really irritating. I rarely check mail in my apartment mailbox because it's 99% junk mail that I didn't ask for, so I only really check it if I know a package is coming that I couldn't get via UPS or FedEx.

Today was a rough day. Our old man kitty Scooter aka Mister Scoots aka Scooterbug aka The Scoot, along with a plethora of other names, passed away after almost 20 years. We knew it was coming, but it still really sucks. He was one of the bestest kitties and will be missed terribly.
