Went to the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park and this thing had landed next door since my last visit. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is a looker.

A visit to the Butterfly Pavilion at the Museum of Natural History in L.A. These guys live in Central and South America under the rainforest canopy. There aren’t many flowers down there so they’re not pollinators. They’ve adapted to eat fruit. #ButterflyPavilion #Butterflies

Spent a morning at the Tulip Festival at the Crystal Hermitage Gardens of the Ananda Village retreat near Nevada City, CA. Made it very hard to feel bad about anything.

A tulip bed: white and pale pink tulips with some hot magenta scattered through, a blue-green garden hedge in the upper left.

Sometimes you want a TV show with high drama, cutting-edge effects, or a concept that grabs you and won't let go. Other times…

A man watches a goat as the closed caption reads, "(goat passes gas)."

Marjorie Taylor Greene doesn't want you to know the name of her opponent but will try every desperate attempt to save her seat. My name is Shawn Harris. I am a Democrat, husband, father, Retired Brigadier General, farmer, and I'm running against MTG. Can you spread the word?

I always figured the first man-made thing to become sentient would be more sophisticated, but, no, it seems that distinction has fallen on the humble bathroom wipe.

I've been doing some unhealthy ruminating lately. Waking up thinking about Russia, our next elections, Social Security, and the impending collapse of our economy and society. I finally found something that makes me feel better: "Siri, play some protest music." Fills my sails to hear what I'm feeling

Today’s LA Times: “Creative entertainment occupations, such as writing and acting, are nearly 40% below 2022 levels….” I feel for my friends and colleagues in the industry. This is a bad one. I’ve gone through a couple of downturns and even prepared for a different career during one. Hang in there❤️

I am calling on Congress to reject corporate radio’s cynical Local Radio Freedom Act, a ploy by big corporations to avoid paying musical artists. I support the American Music Fairness Act instead. Please take a minute to contact your representative (below). musicfairnessaction.org/write-your-r...

If you want to know what my wife and I have in common, as well as how we differ, you just need to know this: My wife and I each discovered the singer Aloe Blacc (who we both think is great) independently. Diane saw him perform at a political fundraiser. I saw him on the broadcast of the Rose Parade.

Fantastic interview about the nature (and future) of journalism. Many original (or at least new to me) ideas for getting good, useful information out to the public in this time of skepticism about legacy media. Merry Christmas!

I took an online quiz a while back that analyzed what types of things make you cry. “Your friend tells you this…” “You see this happen…” Well, I answered “No” to everything. None of them made me cry. But I’ll tell you, I bawled like a baby at the end of @wickedmusical.bsky.social

This is the smudge left behind by a dove who flew into our window. Don’t worry they flew right away. I can almost see every feather in their wings. I had no idea they were so greasy. It reminds me of those cartoons where somebody runs out of the room and leaves a person-shaped hole in the wall.

Hello Bluesky! So MuppetVision 3D is going away at Disney Hollywood Studios. That was the first production I worked on for Jim Henson, and it’s held up incredibly well. I’ll be sorry to see it go, but interested to see the new Muppet ride they’re planning. disneyparksblog.com/wdw/monsters...
