UK alt-metal juggernauts OUR NORTH continue their rise with their electrifying new EP, Everyone For Themselves, out on Friday 4th July (read our review HERE). Leading the charge is the record’s crushing title track. Hailing from Sheffield, this five-piece force has been making serious waves since 2019, fusing metalcore brutality with hip hop swagger and trap intensity. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, While She Sleeps, and Bad Omens, OUR NORTH are carving out a bold new space in the UK heavy scene.

Few riffs can spark instant joy like the opening fuzz-box blast of Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky.” First released in 1969, the four-minute-long psychedelic rocket—anchored by gritty guitar riffs and a foot-stomping gospel chorus—shot to No.1 across the globe including the US, UK, Australia and beyond, selling millions and cementing itself as a cultural touchstone. The track has been covered by everyone from Bauhaus to Elton John, with memorable placements in classic films including Apollo 13, Ocean’s Eleven and Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, more than half a century later, Craft Recordings celebrates the evergreen anthem with its first official music video, inviting a new generation to crank the volume.

If one more berk wheels in a fridge freezer with a dead pigeon wedged in the compressor fan, I’m going to launch myself headfirst into the shredder. For twenty-five years, I’ve been hocking rusted washing machines and strip-mining microwaves for thrupenny’s worth of copper. And then this bunch of reprobates OUR NORTH  goes and teases me with a promo of their EP "Everyone For Themselves", and suddenly, I’m having a bit of an episode in the skip behind the yard. First track hits me like that time a bath fell off the crane and nearly took my kneecaps off.

Nad Sylvan, known as vocalist with legendary guitarist Steve Hackett, has just released his vulnerable & personal new solo album ‘Monumentata’ via InsideOutMusic. Sylvan's music draws heavily from the golden age of progressive rock while blending in folk, classical, and modern rock influences, resulting in a sound that feels both classic and contemporary. To coincide with the release of the album, Nad is also launching a video for the track “I’m Stepping Out (Vampirate Revisited)”.Nad comments of the track and video: “It was such great fun to showcase my inner diva,

This promo got dumped on my desk.  Someone thinks I give a shit about the latest grave robbing dig. The Manticore Tapes, even the name sounds like it's a fantasy novel. Back in 1976, Motörhead got booked into this fancy studio that ELP used to construct their overblown dinosaur prog rock. Manticore Studios is a converted movie theatre in Fulham. Three blokes show up, that nobody could give a fuck about. They're broke, they're hungry, and they've got maybe six songs between them that don't suck. There are eleven tracks of complete fluke.

NYC post-punk band Dead Tooth have dropped a fiery new single, "You Never Do Shit," via Trash Casual. The track follows last year's "Birthday Boohoo" and leads into their debut self-titled album, landing this July. Originally written for Apple TV's City on Fire, frontman Zach Ellis reworked the song for Dead Tooth, which includes James Duncan, Taylor Mitchell, Mikey Cohen, and John Stanesco. Grief counselor and phenomenal vocalist Carla Harvey is back with a brand new band, The Violent Hour. I've sat with people in their worst moments for twenty years. I know what comes after the screaming stops and it sounds like this EP. Carla has been living with this music longer than she's been making it. You can tell. The Violent Hour sounds like someone finally opened a file cabinet that should've stayed locked. These songs don't perform grief—they just carry it around like car keys. "Sick Ones" kicks in with all the ferocity of an early Motorhead track with Charlie Benante's drums hitting like bad news at 2 AM.

Fresh from the release of his new album, Idols, Yungblud gave an iconic headline performance at the second BLUDFEST at The National Bowl Milton Keynes last night (21st June 2025). This was a festival for the people, from the mission to keep prices down to the ‘Make A Friend’ tent which built relationships set to last. For Yungblud’s set, ‘Hello, Heaven Hello’ was an explosive start, glitter cannons bringing screams from the crowd.

I woke up with a taste in my mouth like wet pennies and someone else's shame, and the parrot was screaming, and something sticky had glued my cheek to the floor. The fucking bird was yelling’ about the new Alestorm and pecking at the play button like he was owed money. I gave in. The album starts before I’m ready. Hyperion Omniriff hits like it’s been waiting outside with a brick. Killed to Death by Piracy comes next. The guitars sound like they’re strangling each other. And the drums sound square.

After Leeds alt-rock band The Lost Pandas disintegrated around them in the early 1980s, singer/guitarist David Gedge and bassist Keith Gregory decided to form a new group. In 1985, beguiled by pop radio, punk brashness, The Velvet Underground and David’s erstwhile schoolmates, The Chameleons… they launched The Wedding Present. That band was – and remains – uncompromising and unwaveringly authentic in every way and, as a result, Gedge, without intention, has become a legendary figure in alternative music. He has become one of the chief architects and originators of modern guitar rock and the mastermind behind one of the richest, catchiest and most consistently enthralling catalogues in pop history.

We hope we can add our own Textures flavour to Kscope.” Their new single “Closer to the Unknown” and the accompanying visualiser offer a glimpse into the band’s bold, cinematic sound, as they prepare for their debut full-length release on Kscope.

Gaupa lost a guitarist, and the Band didn't cry about it. FYR may only 4 songs, but there’s no filler here. Emma is screaming in Swedish, mostly, and she sounds mad as hell about something. This record reminds me of the time my neighbor's dog got loose and cornered three cats in an alley. It wasn't pretty but you couldn't look away. The same energy is here, except it's guitars instead of teeth. Karl Daniel Lidén produced this mess, and he’s got a reputation for leaving things rough. Which is nice.
