This week has been a reminder that my chronic illness flares are predictable…so long as I remember check the weather 😅 Reminder to everyone else living with CI this spring: take your meds, stay hydrated, and keep any necessary supplies for handling flare-ups on hand! 💯

Writing romantasy set in He!! Raises a number of logistical concerns Today’s editing adventure: scrubbing the words “kill” and “die” (characters are already SUPER dead) and standardizing the specifics of underworld medical procedures between scenes

Now feels like a good time to say: my books are 100% human. Human written, human edited, covers made by human hands, human marketed. It’s me. I’m the human.

Got to have a fun little adventure this morning 😅 Woke up surprised by how cold it was. Rolled over in bed with more blankets. Was vibing until I realized the cars driving by sounded louder than normal As it turns out, I didn’t shut the door quite right after getting home from groceries last night

“F*ck” I heard him mutter under his breath as he pulled his hands from my body. As the doors reflected the look of need and desire on his face. I knew it matched my own. “This isn’t over, kitten” he said softly as he straightened and backed up slightly. forms.gle/Pfw2P4CGLQmc...

I added the line “Are you ready to hurt for me, darling?” to a spicy scene while editing today and it’s living rent free in my head

Second round of book proofs came in today definitely not me shoving the toaster oven out of the way to take pictures on the kitchen counter cause it matches my aesthetic 👀

My husband has been helping me read over a few scenes from my book and finalize edits He got up from his desk, came into the bedroom, looked me dead in the eye and asked if my FMC really just stole a cup of unattended lean off a college house party table Yes she did. She would do it again, too 😌

Apparently, when the thermostat batteries run out, you’re supposed to flip the AC breaker before you change the batteries. And apparently, failure to do so risks blowing a fuse on the unit

What if you OD’d at a party and the demon you made a deal with when you were 14 dragged your mortal soul down to Hell where a hot demon Prince took you captive and made you go on one-horse territorial surveys and work in his isolated workshop with him haha just kidding bUT WHAT IF 👀 📚💙🌶️💙📚

I honestly think the highest complement I’ve received so far in my writing career was when my MMC got described as flip-flopping between “Hannibal Lector, The Beast, and a flamboyant vampire who really, really loved candles” And honestly? Yes, absolutely haha If that’s your vibe, you’ll love him

Alix Godwin @alixgodwinauthor.bsky.social · 11/08/2025

Cats got new ID tags today. Heard a weird noise and looked over to see my gal, trying to lick herself, and just licking her new tag ;-; I can tell there will be a learning curve associated with these haha

It is so incredibly humid where I live haha Condensation forms on the vents this time of year and collects in little puddles on the floor. Sometimes I step in one, look up, and get hit in the face by vent water. I get my writing time in at the crack of dawn though, so scenic fog is a plus?
