Yesterday the NH House passed HR32, sponsored by @alexissimpsonnh.bsky.social, urging Congress to rescind Trump’s tariffs. Today the Supreme Court found it's unconstitutional for him to unilaterally set and change tariffs because taxation power belongs to Congress. #NHPolitics

It's hard to explain to normies how much effort Trump is putting into anti-trans policies. This is like the 12th thing just this week. And there were 12 things the week before, and 12 things the week before that. There will be 12 things next week. This is almost everything the government is doing.

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

Was LAFD defunded by $17.5 million? YES Some council offices and the mayor are now trying to cover for their disastrous budget by claiming that they approved new LAFD contracts, which happened 6 months AFTER they approved the FY24-25 budget, leading to services and 58 LAFD positions cut
LAFD memo “SUMMARY
The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) is facing unprecedented operational challenges due to the elimination of critical civilian positions and a $7 million reduction in Overtime Variable Staffing Hours (V-Hours). These budgetary reductions have adversely affected the Department's ability to maintain core operations, such as technology and communication infrastructure, payroll processing, training, fire prevention, and community education.
In addition to these impacts, the reduction in v-hours has severely limited the Department's capacity to prepare for, train for, and respond to large-scale emergencies, including wildfires, earthquakes, hazardous material incidents, and large public events. Specialized programs and resources, such as Air Operations, Tactical EMS Units, Disaster Response, and Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), which rely heavily on v-hours, are now at risk of reduced effectiveness.
This report provides an in-depth analysis of these cascading impacts, underscoring the critical need for resource restoration to ensure operational readiness, firefighter safety, and the delivery of high-quality public service.

We can do this in NH too. Universal programs are much easier to administer than means-tested ones. Nobody should have to choose between payinf for life saving meds and basic necessities like food and housing. #NHPolitics

A trans woman on tiktok posted about getting her gender marker changed on her Florida drivers license. Florida investigated her over it, canceled her license, and then leaked the story to libs of tiktok to announce it publicly to humiliate her.
The image shows a tweet by "Libs of TikTok" (@libsoftiktok), reporting on a trans activist who allegedly exploited a loophole in Florida law to change their gender marker on their driver's license. The tweet states that the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) responded with a letter acknowledging the error and promising to address it. It also claims Florida law does not permit gender marker changes based on gender identity and alleges the activist may have lied about losing their license to facilitate the change. Below the tweet, two elements are visible: a video still of the activist smiling and holding their license, and a letter from the FLHSMV dated January 6, 2025.The image is a detailed letter from the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), dated January 6, 2025, addressing the improper change of a driver's license gender marker from male to female. It explains that the change violated Florida law, which defines "sex" based on biological and genetic characteristics and prohibits alterations based on gender identity. The letter confirms the cancellation of the improperly issued license, issuing a corrected license instead. It also discusses potential misrepresentation of facts during the application process and warns of legal consequences for providing false information. The letter is signed by Dave Kerner, Executive Director.

Feeling property tax bill sticker shock? Blame the past 4 years of Republican downshifting. Make no mistake, NH House Democrats will fight for a state budget that protects our critical services and does not shift more of the cost to our local property taxpayers, again. #NHPolitics
