Alison Stone @alisonstonebio.bsky.social · 02/05/2026The more we go with purchased curricular materials in my district/dept the lower the standards. Students are expected to learn less than ever AND I was literally told from an admin (boss) depth of learning doesn’t matter 🤦♀️. Don’t worry because they “learned” the content we are dropping in MS. 010
Alison Stone @alisonstonebio.bsky.social · 27/04/2026Yup. Also, realize that as a building admin you are really middle management. You will probably want to do the best by your teachers but have people above you telling you instead you need to ask nonsense of them that doesn’t help kids. 060

When I get seniors just bursting with pride when they’ve memorized the actions of the major muscles enough to pass an oral defense with me, it is so gratifying. Many of them are realizing they love learning just in time to graduate. 010
Alison Stone @alisonstonebio.bsky.social · 23/04/20261/2 Memorizing gets a bad name. So often educators are told get kids to analyze and evaluate. Those skills are really only done well when kids have foundational knowledge. 110

Alison Stone @alisonstonebio.bsky.social · 03/03/2026I very much agree. Warm demander is something that a teacher embodies. It is not a set of strategies although, typically warm demander’s gravitate to strategies that are going to work well for the students they are teaching. Certainly mindset is something above and beyond strategies. 010
