I’m sure Usha keeps an eye on the household running costs. #TheArchers

So sorry that you’re having this hassle

Also surprised that the app didn’t query the amount. When transferring money to pay for my mother’s monthly care home fees I had to pay in stages over a couple of days until I sorted it with the bank. Actually grateful for the challenge to avoid overpayment due to typos. #TheArchers

Her predecessor lived to fourteen years so naturally slowed down a lot so we’re enjoying the contrast now.

But we took her to the beach while away and she had chips for the first time. And walked her gently round the paddock on a lead as vet said no zoomies. Rest and anti-inflammatories seem to have resolved it but she now lifts that paw up pathetically when we tell her off for digging up the lawn!

Vet diagnosed soft tissue damage - probably caused by her mad zoomies in the garden or the house. She’s only three and a half and very puppy-ish. It is a joy to watch her play with toys after retiring from racing at three years (muscle injury which is now fine). Just goes a bit bonkers sometimes

Note our greyhound gets two walks a day. Silly dog hurt her foot the day before we went on holiday for a few days to a cottage with an enclosed paddock we booked for her benefit. #TheArchers

Great for sighthounds with no recall. Gives them an opportunity to run free for a bit rather than just zoom round the garden or house.

Or did people have better networks and time that they could free up to help out in the past? Amber is unusual in living in a village where there are lots of George’s relatives. It is a pity that she didn’t attend or make friends with others at pre-natal classes. And where is Emma? #TheArchers

I had two Grandmas - differentiated by a prefix (my eldest cousin’s name) and a suffix (a contraction of the surname). Worked well for us.

Alison McNab @alisonmcnab.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Therefore you will have fond associations with it and think I’m daft! What I’m finding fascinating, as many of my contemporaries become grandparents, is the name they choose for that role. Though I also hear sad tales of “I wanted to be called X but the other grandmother claimed it first” 🥲

Growing up in Scotland, I don’t think any of my friends had a grandmother who was a ‘Nana’ or ‘Nanny’. Mainly Grandma with the occasional Granny. This has somehow been translated into a prejudice against the terms Nana and Nanny on my part. #TheArchers

I find the early stages not very compelling until I sort out names /personalities. I always think “I’m not going to get involved this year” but by week 6 I’ll no doubt be rooting for my favourites.

Nope. Her cake fell out of the low level oven as she tried to lean down from her wheelchair to extract it. She made a second simpler cake, which the judges praised. Just like quiz shows which have picture rounds with visually impaired panel members…

Wondering if I can locate an intersection of #TheArchers listeners who are also watching #GBBO / #BakeOff We could run a parallel Ambridge competition with Jill, Leonard, Joy (who no doubt won BakeOff some years ago), Fallon, Emma, Keira, Clarrie, Jolene, Ruth (eliminated first round) etc

We’re assuming that Anna is Executor (which would be sensible given her legal background, albeit in a different field) but what if Carol failed to leave instructions just to spite her? Or never updated the Will leaving everyone to her brother? #TheArchers

Appalled that no reasonable adjustments were made for the contestant with a wheelchair in #GBBO - why not a lowered worktop and an oven / fridge that were at an appropriate height. #a11y

Then the invited guests move on to the reception. I’ve “attended” a good number of wedding services in this way. Some of my colleagues (invited to the evening do when I got married but not the afternoon reception) came along to the service as well. #TheArchers

In a church wedding service, particularly if one or both of the couple are active members, there’s usually an invitation to the congregation to attend the service if they wish. Sometimes the bride & groom will offer a drink or tea & cake afterwards on church premises to all who turn up.

That’s what they all said! I recognise it could have been an issue if we’d had guests who didn’t have grandparents / friends who were able to pick up overnight / sleepover / after school duties.

Obvs any babies under a year would have been welcome. Our wedding was on a Friday which possibly made it a bit easier for friends with school age kids. #TheArchers

I never went to a wedding as a child either. When I got married many of my friends already had school age children. I calculated that we’d have to drop 20 plus adult guests to enable their offspring to attend. I did explain to friends incl the fact our toddler niece and nephew would be there.

So sorry for your loss. While wise to recognise there may have to be changes in the long term, I do hope you can spend as much time as you need with places and things that are meaningful to you and your late husband. Take care.

I’m 65 (husband is younger). Sadly we have no offspring. He currently wants to move to a bigger house. This may be a ploy to get me to declutter but I don’t think so. I hope it is just a phase.

So stupid that none of the older Grundy clan pointed out to George what he was doing. If he’d even spoken to Esme and said his de facto FiL had offered him some work shadowing at the car showroom…. #TheArchers

George seemed to have animal welfare at heart and was concerned for Esme. Eddy only seems to care for making money and has already conned Esme into paying him more. He would abandon her in an instant when it is turkey season. #TheArchers

His film has put The Odyssey on the bestseller list – yet a third of adults in the UK say that they have already given up on books

Yes, but it means working with Jolene & Kenton until they retire in “the fullness of time”. Have they ever discussed this with her? Is their upset bcos they wanted Fallon & Harrison to run the pub when they retire? Maybe co-owner Lilian has other ideas? #TheArchers
