I had an excellent time fulfilling a life goal by learning to spin my own yarn yesterday. I even got to have a (brief and not very succesful) turn on a spinning wheel. I can really recommend Lamb in the Loft in Keighley for anyone wanting to learn!

So relieved that as I hurtle through the air propelled by jet fuel, eating individually plastic wrapped items and drinking water from a tiny tetra pack container, I was given cardboard cutlery with which to consume my STEW. I'm sure that will make a lasting difference.

For me the best thing is the incredible pace of technology developing: discoveries using DNA analysis or other new tools are mind blowing! Worst: the loss of enthusiastic people from poor conditions, and the awful delay in post-ex and publication that makes so much work effectively pointless.

As a buildings archaeologist, one of my favourite things to spot is old graffiti - especially children's doodles or marks to show different heights on a doorway as the family grew! It always reminds me how all houses are really about the people who've lived in them.
