this fight laid out chihiro's convictions for the audience, challenged his point of view, and set up the series for a lot of great callbacks. i think my fav aspect of it was the dango / tea house scene in c17. everything felt intentional, sojo is def a character we're going to come back to (2/?)

It hurt, everything hurt, more than Ikki had ever hurt, but more distressing than that was a sudden, suffocating sense of loss. Something was being taken from him - this monster was taking something from him, and he had to stop it-

Isagi tilted his head back, lifting his blooded hand above his head to observe the spoils of his efforts. An eye, his eye , covered in blood but shining like tourmaline, dangled between them. A ghoulish grin split Isagi’s face in two, his own cobalt eyes drilling into Ikki as he opened his mouth.

He swallowed the eye whole.
