I come here looking for beauty, so it's only fair that I post some beauty.

This glorious Maple is just starting to turn red, still mostly green with antique white buildings in the background. The sky is a beautiful blue.

Two turtles getting some sun, sitting on a rock in a pond. They're craning their little heads upwards to look at us, and they both have one leg outstretched behind for balance.

The Maryland ballot box makes voting so easy.

I am imagining the need for the jacket I was wearing on this lovely afternoon downtown. We were in the Navy Yard neighborhood, and this pedestrian bridge was so pretty in the bright blue sky.

In a cooler season we had Jack-in-the-Pulpits. I'm looking forward to the return of the cool.

A mid-April visit to the National Arboretum

In the Azalea Garden just past peak bloom. Red, pink and magenta bushes with a meandering dirt path. Lovely and peaceful

Still walking, new views in the same place.

Stairs on the woodland trail of the Glenstone

an empty pod in the winter meadow, Glenstone

I believe this is called a cat tail, and it's going to seed. In the meadow at the Glenstone.

This stone hut is along the woodland trail at the Glenstone. There is art inside, but it's closed in the winter.

The Glenstone is a fabulous place to walk. To meet a friend, or not. I do love it when the moon is full.

The full moon hangs between the art called "Sylvester", and another piece of art which I don't understand. The moon though, is somewhat hidden.

Some scenes from the end of the year. I will not miss 2025, may the next year be better.

While walking on the Woodland Trail at the Glenstone, I see this sculpture as it interacts with the trees. Artist: Simone Leigh

Found this in the woods. Maybe a hickory nut?

Yesterday a bit of excitement for me and a young rat snake. We both wanted to use my bathroom at the same time. I'm very grateful to my friend who was willing to come up and help me capture and release young snake. Here are before and after pictures:

A young rat snake turning the corner. He has pretty markings and notices me at the same time I notice him. He is lifting his head to see what I am.

The rat snake was released next to the stream, shown here as he crosses over a branch and many leaves in the water.

Ground cherries, new to me. I think they're pretty and a sweet little treat.

Here is a shot of the blue sky through the green leaves. I took this picture back on July 22. The sky has not been blue here in quite some time. The sky is white, and I understand it's full of smoke from Canada.

This is a spotted lantern fly, in the nymph stage. I think it's a beautiful bug, and it has a unique little walk. I have read that these invasive bugs will destroy many trees. 🙁 My deck is thick with them, and they're very hard to catch.

A sweet young couple in my neighborhood have adopted a goose! This goose is living with a cat. They get along great. The couple know they cannot keep the goose for long, and they have a plan.
