Cat qubits just got a new control dial. 🎛️ With ENS Lyon, we swapped the microwave signal that stabilises them for a steady voltage. The same chip removes photons one, two or four at a time. 🐈‍⬛ Read the blog post: alice-bob.com/blog/multi-p... #QuantumComputing #QuantumErrorCorrection

A new recipe for stabilizing cat qubits? 🧂🐈‍⬛ A microwave signal does that job today. It works, but turn it up enough and the very thing that stabilizes it starts to limit how big the cat can grow... With @ensdelyon.bsky.social, we tested another way. 📝 Read the preprint: 👉 arxiv.org/pdf/2608.31154

Everyone's talking about logical qubits. Nobody agrees on what they are. Today we're publishing a memo with 5 criteria to help fix that: ⚡ Better than physical qubits? 📈 Scalable? ⏳ Tested long enough? 🎯 No cherry-picking? 🏁 Goes the distance? Read here 👉 bit.ly/4vA5ELE #QuantumComputing

Cat qubits strongly resist bit-flip errors. 🐈‍⬛⚡️ Elevator Codes could add a logical "boost" to reach 10,000× lower logical error rates for only about 3× more qubits. Read our blog post: 👉 bit.ly/elevatorcode... Preprint 📝 : arxiv.org/abs/2601.10786 @pshanahan62.bsky.social @diego-ruiz.bsky.social

Cat qubits hate to flip. How far can we push that? In our new preprint, we introduce Elevator Codes, boosting cat qubits’ passive bit-flip protection to reach extremely low logical error rates with low overhead: 10,000× lower errors for around 3× more qubits. 🚀 Paper: 👉 arxiv.org/abs/2601.10786

🧬⚡In our resource estimate for molecular simulation, we show that cat qubits could simulate FeMoco (biological nitrogen fixation) and P450 (drug metabolism) with far less hardware: 99 000 qubits vs 2 700 000 for other superconducting approaches. 🐱 Read our blogpost: 👉 alice-bob.com/blog/cats-fo...

Fresh from the lab 🛡⚡️: preliminary results show that our cat qubits now last over an hour without bit-flips—far beyond last year’s 7-min world record. 🐈💪 Built on the same design as our 12-qubit chip Helium, it’s a big step toward fault-tolerant quantum. 🚀 Read more 👉 alice-bob.com/blog/just-ou...

The Quantum Economy Podcast – “Audacity in Europe’s Quantum Leap” with Théau Peronnin (Alice & Bob)
In this episode of The Quantum Economy Podcast, Anders Indset speaks with Théau Peronnin, co-founder and CEO of Alice & Bob — a French quantum startup pioneering fault-tolerant quantum computing through its unique “cat qubit” design. A physicist by training and vocation, Théau shares his journey from academia to entrepreneurship and reflects on what it takes to lead a deep-tech company through one of the most high-stakes races in modern science: building a universal quantum computer. Together, they explore: – How embedding error correction directly into qubits could drastically reduce the hardware requirements for fault tolerance – Why quantum computing isn’t about accelerating existing algorithms but enabling entirely new kinds of questions – What the “Sputnik moment” of quantum might look like — and why we're not quite there yet – How classical control electronics, not quantum components, could be the true bottleneck at scale – Why Europe needs visionary drive, not bureaucracy, to take the lead in quantum innovation – And why the most profound impact of quantum might lie in unlocking the next generation of chemistry, material science — and maybe even understanding life itself This is a conversation that moves fluidly between science, economics, culture, and the long arc of human progress — all through the lens of someone building the machine that could define the next technological era. Whether you’re a researcher, investor, policymaker, or simply quantum-curious — this episode will expand your view of what’s possible. What if we could “squeeze” even more performance out of cat qubits? 📝 In our new paper, we show how Squeezing can drastically reduce overall errors, with a 160x increase in bit-flip lifetime while keeping phase-flips constant. 🔗 Link to paper: arxiv.org/pdf/2502.07892 #quantumcomputing #physics
