One of the best pieces of advice I've received in the past year is still "learn to become comfortable with discomfort". It's a good reminder to stop trying to control everything, everyone, every space etc. and to stop avoiding accountability just because it makes you feel gross or means confronting-

It's important to point out this doesn't happen until deep into Heavensward. She never says it while he's "Thancred", mostly because she insists with herself that it's just a fling/fwb and doesn't realize how deep her feelings go until "Thancred" goes missing after the raid on the Waking Sands 🤡

I've been writing more lore and scenes for Aliara growing up as a Viera kit in Limsa Lominsa. For the longest time I wasn't going to because I'm extremely unfamiliar with how kids behave and my own childhood was uh... a dumpster fire. Actually a dumpster fire would have enhanced it tbh. But!!

🎀 Day 24: Drift 🎀 → Sometimes, part of the healing journey is painting a pretty picture. I'm not an artist so this might not make sense lol ellipsus.com/read/4IfKEWZ...

Her skills in painting have come a long way since she first started; where her art used to look like a toddler taking a brush and slapping paint onto the canvas, she now feels she's got stroke and brush techniques, as well as colour theory, down to a T. Landscape is her forte, she realises, the human structure and anatomy being too much for her to do. Though, Leih does love painting a moogle from time to time.

How long has she been stuck in this position? An hour? No, it's been much longer than that by now. Leih came here when the sun had just cracked upon the surface. By the time her arms go limp and she can no longer hold up the paintbrush, the sun is starting to set.

Aliara will make initial eye contact when greeting someone or being introduced, then she retreats. She struggles beyond what's considered polite and the more someone tries to meet her eye, the more she'll want an escape. It takes being close for her to be comfortable with it. #aliaralore #wolqotd
