More relevant updates to Public Order Act in 2026 below. So question is did Police in Dover designate the area. If not, why not?
Practical bottom line for demonstrators' clothing

• Ordinary clothing is not regulated, but items worn mainly to hide identity (balaclavas, full-face masks, etc.) can now:

• be required to be removed under section
60AA (1994) in authorised areas; and

• amount to a criminal offence if worn inside a police-designated mask-free zone under the
2026 Act, unless covered by the health/ religious/work defence.

• Police must designate the area, and the designation is time-limited and location-specific; outside those zones/times, wearing a mask is not in itself an offence under these
provisions.

As usual he is both misinformed and he exaggerates.
In 2026, the latest available figures indicate that the United States accounted for approximately:

• 64.1% of Canada's goods-and-services exports in Q1 2026-the lowest quarterly share on record.

• For merchandise exports alone, the U.S. share was about 69.5% in June 2026, since non-U.S. markets accounted for 30.5%.

• In Q1 2026, Canada's total two-way goods-and-services trade with the U.S. was C$322.8 billion, comprising C$169.6 billion in exports and C$153.1 billion in imports.

How can party leaders talk about by-election when Farage can not just resign as an MP? Do they also not know what are Parliamentary rules? As a reminder see below
Why MPs can't "just resign"

Since the 17th century, it has been a constitutional principle that a Member of Parliament cannot unilaterally vacate their seat. The idea is that the MP represents the constituency, not themselves, so they cannot simply quit by personal declaration.

To effectively "resign", an MP must accept an office of the Crown that automatically disqualifies them under the House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975. The two historic offices used for this are:

• Crown Steward and Bailiff of the Chiltern
Hundreds

• Steward or Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead

Applying for one of these offices is the formal mechanism MPs use to leave Parliament.

Am I right that just because an MP says he is resigning his seat nothing happens. Why is every party leader falling for Farage pantomime? He say he resigned. So what? There is a process and that is not it.

Two extracts from this article clearly point out to how USA now influences Venezuela top politics. Wonder what Machado thinks of the stunt pulled on her in D.C.
Ejecting Padrino removed a potential threat to Rodríguez, and may also curry favour with her most important backer - US President Donald Trump. Where Padrino prioritised relations with Russia and Iran, González is believed to have a network of contacts in the US. When CIA
director John Ratcliffe visited Caracas, he was greeted by González.

"People like González López who were so high up in the intelligence services have always been talking to the Americans," said one Venezuelan intelligence officer, speaking on condition of anonymity. "The Americans must have approved for him to get his new position."Juan Barreto, a former mayor of Caracas who was close to Hugo Chávez, the late founder of Venezuela's socialist state, but later broke with Maduro, said the personnel changes represented "replacements rather than realignments"

"There's been no investigation into what happened" when Maduro was captured, Barreto said.

The opposition's most prominent leader, Nobel peace prize-winner María Corina Machado, told the FT she saw González's position as "unsustainable" in the long term.

"He is a sanctioned individual, clearly investigated for crimes against humanity, and one of the worst torturers the country has had."

For those who do not want the whole article (it is free and I recommend it) here is a stark conclusion - USA is not winning on this front!
Faced with the unappealing task of trying to defend the strait in the middle of a shooting war, the United States might try to respond to Iran's escalation with escalation of its own. But those choices present problems, too. For example, the United States might decide that it needs to control the Iranian coast by inserting Marines or special operations forces —but the entry of ground forces would raise the risk of casualties and quagmire. Or the United States could try to escalate its bombing campaign to coerce an end to the war—but the United States and Israel may be running out of targets with which to bring about such pressure on the regime. Indeed, this is likely why the regime now seems much more willing to close the strait than ever before.

In short, if Iran effectively mines the strait, all U.S. response options are suboptimal. The United States should therefore focus aggressively on preventing Iranian mine-laying in the first place and finding an off-ramp from the larger war. If it does not, Washington should expect that ongoing harassment of traffic in the strait will be but one of a number of responses that Iran has long prepared and will now deploy.®

New tariffs can be imposed for up to 150 days

Michelle Fleury

New York business correspondent
President Trump said the US will generate more money from his new 10% global tariff.
The White House plans to replace tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) - which the Supreme Court today struck down - with new duties.

Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act allows the president to impose levies up to 15% for up to 150 days on imports from all countries before needing approval from Congress.

In anticipation of today, Erica York of the Tax Foundation has crunched the numbers. By her estimation, the 10% tariffs announced today would replace around 56% of the revenue generated by tariffs under lEEPA.

You have found a perfect example for the use of an AI assistant. Below is what Perplexity told me. Hope it helps
Here's a simpler version of what you wrote, rewritten so a 12-year-old could easily understand it:

Most corn oil is made by first pressing oil out of corn using a machine called an expeller. Then, a special liquid (a solvent such as hexane) is used to wash out the rest of the oil from the corn. The solvent is later boiled off, cleaned, and used again.

After that, the oil is cleaned in a few steps. First, parts of the oil that make it cloudy are removed (called "degumming"). Then, another cleaning step with a mild chemical removes acids and helps make the oil lighter in color.

Finally, the oil is chilled to take out any waxes ("winterization"), and heated in a vacuum with steam to remove smells ("deodorization"). By the end, the oil is clear, light, and ready to use for cooking. (

Xtend is among the companies trying to capitalize on America and its allies' push to keep up. After the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, massacre of Israelis sparked a bloody war in Gaza, Xtend's Shapira told The Wall Street Journal that his firm's products helped Israeli forces map out terrain, explore inside buildings and take out booby traps around Hamas's underground tunnel network.

In a November press release announcing a contract with the Pentagon, Xtend said its "one-way" drone kits would be specially built for small tactical teams in "irregular warfare oper-ations."

That business could soon grow. The Defense Department this month named Xtend as one of 25 companies invited to participate in the first phase of its "Drone Dominance Program," a procurement push ultimately slated to reach $1.1 billion.

Just checked Ofcom complaints process wrt platform breaking online safety rules. If I interpret it right, individuals can not make a complaint (Section 3.5 of Ofcom Online Safety Enforcement). So how does one get to situation described in Section 3.6 below?
It is important to note that the Online Safety Regime is about service providers' safety systems and processes, not about regulating individual content found on such services. The presence of illegal content or content that is potentially harmful to children does not necessarily mean that a service provider is failing to fulfil its duties in the Act. We would not therefore be likely to take action solely based on a piece of harmful content appearing on a regulated service. However, evidence of especially harmful material (particularly if it is on a service for a prolonged period without being removed), or a prevalence of harmful material (particularly where this is present on a service that presents a particular risk to children), would be relevant to our assessment of whether the issue is a priority for Ofcom and what type of action may be warranted (see our priority framework below and Section 4).

Worth having the conclusion here.
We will hold out hope that the current crisis will end less badly than we expect. We fear that the result of Mr. Trump's adventurism is increased suffering for Venezuelans, rising regional instability and lasting damage for America's interests around the world. We know that Mr. Trump's warmongering violates the law.
