20+ notifications? Must be the biweekly "zero gen ai starter pack" re-share. 😊 I find it so reassuring to see how everyone continues to value AI-free work. Hello new followers! here is my latest rat

Firing off a flare in test world and was surprised by the red reflection. Pretty cool~

Spent a day recreating some of the post-processing in Chop Goblins. I'm happy with how it came out! I wrote a CRT chroma bleed and a tiny sine-wave distortion across the whole image. It's hard to see below 100% zoom.

Been having fun trying post processing and other new things for me. My favourite bits of working on a game project are the messing around with half finished assets~

sheeb
A placeholder sheep model hovering above the ground. It clearly had almost no thought put into it, but somehow looks perfect just as it is.

Man, videogames are pretty great right now. Four games I've been super excited for, coming within a month 🔥 It's easy to get gloomy about the industry, but I'm super thankful that games like this can exist. #gaming

I feel like a genius! Probably obvious to others. #godot I followed an old random tutorial on using subviewport textures to create maps to use in shaders (ex Fog Of War.) It called get_image() to make an ImageTexture for the shader. But you can just pass the texture to the shader by reference!
grass_multi_mesh_instance.material_override.set_shader_parameter(
		"DisplacementMap", grass_manager.displacement_sub_viewport.get_texture()
	)

How are you meant to get good at shaders when the mistakes are so much more fun?

alfred @alfreds.website · 05/08/2025
a breakthrough! I was calculating my map uvs wrong and incorrectly thought it was working because i checked it with a tiling texture...

For a short time I had a weekly show & tell with a friend in person - it was such a small thing but I felt some amount of purpose while it lasted. I made two prototypes and they were both game-shaped purely for the sake of show & tell. Like a slapped on win condition. I still play them both.

Made the trip to Arcade Club in Bury to play physical pinball machines for the first time. It was cool! The big standout for me was Jersey Jack's Wizard of Oz, it was such a delight.

Absolutely loving this haunted ad for 1974 Italian home pinball machine, Strike. Courtesy of nypinball.com/flyer/
A clearly staged, brutally lit living room dominated by a full sized pinball machine, with center-frame guns and hunting trophies. The text reads: "It is evening again, reach your home to relax from the daily stress; calm your nerves, with the pin-table we are offering you"
