I will never care that I’m an adult who still loves YA books.

As a former journalist and people pleasing young woman, I relate to Andy Sachs in several ways and although I didn’t actually watch The Devil Wears Prada till just a few years ago (no idea how I misse...

Well, May is certainly full of some buzzy books!

As the title may suggest, this is the second update on how my reading of the Women’s Prize longlists is going.

The delicate scent of wildflowers carried by a soft breeze on a bright early morning alongside a quiet cup of tea and a light, absorbing book on my decking sounds like the perfect spring weekend to me...

You know the whole Easter/bunny/rabbit/rabbit-esque creature connection with this time of year?

I don’t think April is typically a big publishing month but there appear to be a lot of very exciting books that will be gracing new releases tables everywhere soon.

And just like that, I’ve been here three months…

This year’s Women’s Prize longlists are currently making up the bulk of my reading and I am not in the smallest bit mad about it.

*I could have added ‘(that is not actual Bridgerton)’ to the title of this newsletter but I figured you’d know by now that Bridgerton books exist and that I don’t need to recommend them to you as some...

This Valentine’s weekend, I wanted to do something nice for a few books that I think deserve it.

It is officially book prize season and I know that everyone says it but it is like bookish Christmas.

Perhaps the most prestigious prize for the best of children’s literature in the UK is a Carnegie medal.

I don’t read many short story collections but I definitely see the appeal of them.

Don’t you just love the prospect (and even better the actual arrival!) of brand new shiny books?

Welcome to my first ever Alex Recommends on Substack!

Alas, we are once again on the brink of another nail-biting, toe-curling finale of the UK series of The Traitors and I don’t know about you but I am not ready for it to end.

We are currently in the month of new beginnings, fresh pages, clean shiny promises.
