Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I'm still a fair bit away from finishing this, got lots of lyrics still to write and record but we're at the organised exports and track names phase! EP2 is progressing nicely! 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Today in music production, sorting out a sync export folder to my phone so I can always listen to my latest mix in the car! 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 10/09/2026The increase of AI bullshit I see all over the place is just despairingly dystopian. What point is an identity if you refuse to use it. 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 05/08/2026I swear to god I'm like 10% musically creative and 90% organising files and trying to work out where in the holy name of Steinberg I put that bloody VST. Is it routed into the snare through the bus? No I decided to link it directly and now I have to spend another hour rejiggering Reason. #FUN 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Spent a not insignificant time working through some lyrics for the new EP. It's restored music I found from some exports made around 15 years that I'm dusting off and finally finishing. Ideas are flowing! #music #recording #musician #musicproduction 011
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Yikes no. I use LANDR for distribution as it comes with my Reason+ sub but I am absolutely not feeding my music to it. AI is a curse. 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Working on something fun for potential 3rd EP (whilst writing lyrics for the second). Quad Note Generator is a very fun tool! #reasonstudios #musicproduction #musicians 010
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 12/05/2026On the plus side you'll now have 3 new patches to play with! 010

Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 07/05/2026You got a wheel or something to help speed things up? I use the Speed Editor with DaVinci and it's great. Also you botched in your botch making botcher. 000

Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 18/04/2026An underrated musician tip I would give anyone is stay organised (which I'm in process of doing here). By doing this, making things are in an organised place and documented, you'll save time later and have a bit of a clearer mind. Oh also BACKUP! #musician #musicproduction #musiciansky 010
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 17/04/2026Finally got round to watching FKA Twigs at Coachella, holy fuck, but wait...holy fuck. 000

Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Today's winner was from the 1976 Spring/Summer catalogue and they won a China Horse for £13.75, the wild bit is when we get to the 2010's and people start winning the value of a PS4, although the early 20th century jewelry market can upset the season. 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 15/04/2026In our office we've been playing The Argos Game which I came up with for a bit of teambuilding/boredom busting. Basically get every Argos catalogue I can find. Everyone picks a page and number from that page. Highest value wins that round. We have leagues/spreadsheets and everything... 100
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 15/04/2026I'm happy to listen to it and give feedback! I know what Suno does and have explored it's capabilities, i would also caution uploading any of your own music to somewhere that can use it without your express permission. You are essentially giving them permission to redistribute it without consent. 010
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Then it means Suno used other people's works to write the music not you. You are not developing skills, you are stagnating them. You are hindering and generalising your own inspiration by using tools that cannot comprehend the idea of imagination. 100
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Please dump Suno. Listen to music for inspiration instead of using AI. 110

Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Turns out if I put Rezz and my bread machine at the same time they groove amazingly well together. For reference the track is Circuit and the bread is a Cheese and Herb Loaf. 000
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Ah Serum, I have that somewhere. Not heard of Keepforest! Very Mick Gordon-esque 010
Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Got the groundwork down for a piano only rendition of the last EP. Things are sounding good with some fun little twists. Turns out if you put two songs in the same key, you can mash them together. WHO KNEW! #MusicianSky 000

Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Not enough people are sampling mid-90s cartridge synths. Although I wouldn't be surprised if this was from the EMU Proteus like some of Goldeneye is. 160

Alex Sharkey @alexsharkey.bsky.social · 02/04/2026Well, I did it. I made an EP! 6 tracks of my glorious insanity recorded in my basement on a loose arrangement of misc gear. But it's done, my first major music release in 20 years!
