a short thread 🧵: sometimes i like to peruse r/conservative to see how people are thinking/feeling over there and this is a comment on a post about musk shit talking the bill. it makes me think about baseball. /1

An anonymized reddit comment: The government, as it exists now, is just a device being used by elitists to rob the American people. Our current social welfare programs are a pittance compare to the wealth being funnel into the hands of politicians and the wealthy donors that helped put them in office. When it comes time to pay the bill on all this wild spending the people who stole all that wealth are going to look to everyone else (you and me) to cover it.

big fan of yours derek. happy to do this! i'm 5'8", sorta medium build and i struggle with proportions in my silhouette while wearing jeans. what are some useful ways to think about where tops (usually t-shirts) should sit relative to wear the jeans should sit (rn I feel like my jeans sit too low)

i think @hankgreen.bsky.social put it well here. they don't understand that they should be hating the game, not the players.

A reddit comment from user u/vertigonex that reads:

Verify the veracity of this story
If found that Waltz did indeed add a journalist, he should be fired - and it should be investigated whether this was an instance of providing plausible deniability to the journalist by adding him "by mistake"
If found that Hegseth shared classified information on an unapproved platform, he should be fired
The bottom line is that if any rank-and-file member of the armed forces did this, they would be instantaneously persona non grata.

There should be no difference in treatment if the allegations are proven to be true.

A Reddit comment from u/PaddyMayonaise and two replies. The post reads:

🤦‍♂️ every fucking day there’s something new. Just stick to the fucking platform and stay focused. Don’t hit unqualified idiots to the most important positions on the planet. Don’t focus on idiotic fruitless side quests instead of focusing on prominent campaign promises.

I still have faith things will workout in the end but I am so so frustrated.

The first comment from u/Trondkjo reads: Are you blaming Trump?

The reply to that comment from OP reads: Yes, he's in charge.

A reddit comment and reply.

User DizzyPanda writes: Pretty bad look tbh. They aren't wrong, but its still bad to be discussing that shit on signal and not a more secure method of communication that I have to imagine is available to the Vice President and the Secretary of Defense.

Reply from u/Madetoprint reads: What do you mean they aren't wrong? Not only is it illegal to transmit classified information through A) unapproved means and B) to someone without proper clearance and a need to know that information...It is in fact a crime to fail to REPORT that this has happened if you are even remotely aware of it. At the very least, anyone else would have their device seized and it would be investigated by the FBI to contain and sanitize the classified spill. Yeah, it's a bad look alright.

i presume you’re referring to this as “throughout the replies.” exxon existing both makes billionaires wealthy AND is part of the reason the aggregate of emissions from cars is bad. gas emissions still exist even if you abolish billionaires.
