I feel like with Sand on top of the ballot that could end up not mattering as much, he could end up eking out a very narrow win

This is also why I think 2008-2024 is the slow transitional period to unmake the 6th party system and start the new one

I think that the collapse of the Bush admin did hurt them in the long run, because ever since, from 2008 to 2024, the majority of the electorate has consistently refused to vote for the GOP, Dems just haven't been able to fully consolidate that majority, yet

Also, I barely see anyone talk about this, but I think a political party that has only won the popular vote twice in nearly 40 years, and only won the majority of the vote once, 20 years ago, is probably not doing well

I could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure the GOP has lost independents in every single election after 2016, including 2024

Him losing to AOC in a landslide in 2028 would be awesome tbh

It's so funny how desperate and hysterical conservatives got the moment they thought they had something on him to turn things around

My guess is that AES calling him low T hurt him so he's trying to seem more “masculine”, him and the people around him probably think this will make him more appealing because they have the thought process of a chimp

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

My statement on the ICE shooting in Marble Hill ⬇️

"Today in Marble Hill, ICE agents fired multiple shots at a man in his vehicle while his 5-year-old child was in the back seat.
ICE's already unwelcome presence in our city has been growing more escalatory and dangerous by the day. Today's shooting is a grave development that requires a swift and immediate response to protect the safety of all New Yorkers.
First, we must have a full and independent investigation of this incident.
"There must also be a full and immediate release of all body camera footage of the incident.
In addition, the Target Corporation must stop offering their Bronx properties as private staging sites for ICE, in compliance with requests from New York officials. Target opening up large, active retail parking lots for paramilitary activity is unacceptable and places the entire community at risk.
ICE is a rogue, lawless paramilitary and surveillance agency.
It does not belong in New York City and it should not exist in the United States of America. Abolish ICE.”

I'm actually shocked she agreed to debate him, I was fully convinced she would just refuse to do it, she's just not good at public speaking

I wouldn't be surprised if it surpassed 2018, at the very least

With the insane levels of turnout we've been seeing 2025-2026 in special elections, primaries, and now early vote, I genuinely wonder if 2026 is gonna have like presidential level turnout

Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
My guess has always been anywhere around D+0-3, now I think it's gonna be more like D+5-7 though I'm okay with anything below that as long as it's a win. Anything beyond 7 points is a “I'll believe it when I see it” type thing

Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
And with only a plurality of the vote, less than half of voters actually voted for him (most voters haven't voted republican since 2004)

This only makes sense if you think women aren't people btw

Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
That's so funny to me, because back in like early 2025 I was wishcasting a D+12 environment so that it would be a 14 point shift, just like the 2008 to 2010 shift, I thought I was mostly joking!

At least they're not insisting on D+2-4 like they were just a few months ago, that's growth. I also remember some saying Dems couldn't win the senate even if they won Texas lol

She would do a lot better than Bernie though, she actually has a real chance
020
Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
It's easy to see 2016 as an accident or a mistake because he actually lost the popular vote, plus no one knew what he was gonna do so it was easier to understand why someone would fall for that. But 2024 was a choice, they knew what he was going to do, and he won the popular vote
010
Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
I also like how these people always ask you “What are you going to do about it?” when they're literally not doing anything, literally less than nothing

Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
That level of gleeful doomerism is so gross, imagine talking about something like that in such a smug way, if that were to actually happen why would your priority be to brag about “being right” on the internet

I think she believes that if Netanyahu loses everyone will go back to supporting Israel and the past decade or two will be magically undone

More Clinton 2008 voters voted for McCain than Bernie 2016 voters voted for Trump

The incumbent getting below 35% is one of the conditions for a realignment to happen
000
Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Also, look at who the president is now; you can't really pearl clutch about someone not being qualified when Trump is president, specially when the media is so deferent to him

Centrists demanding and expecting Jeffries to be as trusted as Mamdani just because he's on track to be in a position of power is so stupid imo

Hey, is it good when the incumbent's approval rating starts getting worse the closer we get to election day?

Also, and this is just my opinion, I feel like AOC has more leeway to take her time, given she would have a ton of grassroots and structural support right away. It's not clear to me that it'd be the same for Harris, AOC has a more defined lane that can be consolidated a lot faster

The thing i'm worried about is that if/when he wins it'll be taken as “proof” that this stuff not only works but it's “actually necessary”
021
Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
Also, you can't just ignore your base no matter how much you want to; your general election strategies are useless if you can't get through the primary

Alex Nikos @alexnikos.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
The people saying that it won't matter in 2028 are the same people who say that it wouldn't matter in 2026, just like they said it didn't matter in 2024
