Disturbing but, unfortunately, not surprising.

Very important analysis. An independent Alberta would face serious economic risks from fluctuations in global petrol markets. This of course includes the fiscal framework that could no longer rely on Canada's more diverse economy.

They are expanding voter eligibility to all legal residents in this spring's election, as I'm sure you know. It will be interesting to see how that unfolds. Worth monitoring from our side of the pond for sure.

Lots of people representing lots of nations on Parliament Hill on the anniversary of Russia's full scale invasion. Ukraine continues to fight for their sovereignty and for democracy. Слава Україні! #Ukraine #StandWithUkraine #Canada #cdnpoli

Great post, Emmett. I live a few hundred feet from Parliament Hill. I recall apologizing to the (very understanding) students in my tutorial about the train horn that was disrupting us. The situation only abated when the EA was invoked.

Smart. I know someone who is going through shingles. They are in horrific pain. I got the shot too. I'm younger than the age when it is considered risky, but it is still worth it.

It is astonishing that we live in a world where the tantrums of a thin skinned narcissist shape how major negotiations can hsppen. I can't move past my "how did we get here" shock.

Yes, for example, some sectors are inherently difficult to pivot away from the US. Geography matters in trade. We need to do something though. The situation is unsustainable.

You're spot on about the fairness aspect. As educators, we just need to keep looking for solutions and revising our approaches as we learn. And recognize that it adds an unfair burden to the students who don't misuse AI.

People need to understand the regulatory college/authority's role. They are established in law to protect the public. A licensed professional making transphobic statements undermines the profession's reputation among trans people and others. Thus, it's certainly something they need to address.

I think it would be useful to know how the answers are associated with different understanding on what are Canadian values. Also, the way Canada selects immigrants is part of our values. Further, numerous waves of immigrants played a strong role in what individuals would identify as Canadian values.

Great post, Tatyana. Regarding innovation, of course, many immigrants are selected because of their education, experience, etc. So what you say makes intuitive sense.

Agree. And the public needs better resources informing them on what is appropriate to put in chatbots vs. not. I fear too many people are typing-in the kind of information that really, really shouldn't be out in the world.

These wild market swings are seriously disconcerting. I suspect one day we will get a Michael Lewis book followed by a Hollywood blockbuster detailing the situation, like we did about the subprime crisis.
