i can't place why it's more embarrassing than microblogging but it definitely is

I have finally cracked vertical video this year. Basically I'm a fellow kid

I'm saying IT'S TOO HOT in front of a pic of the sun

2570

I don't like to break kayfabe but tbh I started saying that because I got on some ridiculous heater of like 12-1 last year just picking straight upsets and I very much mean it that I am not a tout

120

we have certainly tried to take that feedback seriously, appreciate it

020

I sometimes use that one. Scary though because suddenly I'm positioning myself against the wisdom of @espnbillc.bsky.social instead of A BUNCHA RUBES

010

this one i cannot agree with, i'm @sheehannewsletter.bsky.social pilled and have seen Carmen Mlodzinski give up a homer in the fifth inning too many times

gives you the chance to look smart vs. the unwashed masses

140

And they had the Herrera-Davis-Holland bullpen so it was honorable

150

Yep. Handicap system is a miracle too

000

I appreciate that a lot, and what I can offer in return is that I will try to be mindful not to use it as a "crutch," because I agree that's juvenile analysis that you could get elsewhere

150

I think every sports fan should be very open to new info and fresh, mathematically proven methods for looking at games. But you should also have exactly one proudly anti-intellectual take so you know how the other half lives. For example, October bullpen games. This is America man

I would also say, to that point, that I often go out of my way to talk about the spread without talking about it, because I'm not trying to gratuitously offer unpaid marketing to the books. E.g. "These guys are expected to win this by a touchdown or so"

That's both an accurate and incomplete description of why the line is what it is, though. The reason it benefits the house is that it's a balancing point that reflects public sentiment in a market with a lot of volume in it

130

I don't take it as an attack and accept that my reply to @seanrosales.bsky.social's post (which I also know is made in good faith by a longtime listener) I am inviting disagreement

020

This is why I occasionally like to read a score as Team very, very many Other team very, very few

1130

I'd argue that it's "about" college football on its own terms, with gambling in this case providing a useful data point

120

Kentucky-South Carolina this week is an example. It's legitimately interesting to me that South Carolina is -3.5 while UK is ranked and Shane Beamer is circling the drain. This is brought to you by me, not by a prediction market (which I've personally said no to like five times this year btw)

We really are not a tout show! I think spreads can be useful frames to learn more about matchups and so I mention them fairly often, I admit, but I hope listeners will see that as a muuuuuuch different thing than encouraging you to throw money at it

Sorry, groggy, misread this. Anyway thanks

Oh I thought this was the second half. Smh

Poor Mike Tomlin had to coach home games for 18 years on the North Shore of Pittsburgh in a sea of parking lots with only the most sparse transit and restaurant options. This explains so much

21239

I don't think so. That place isn't well lit, and Mike is very lighting-conscious, as he said

070

Mike Tomlin named his Minecraft college apartment complex "The View" after one of the grimiest complexes in College Park, MD, where his son played wide receiver. Subscribed

My wife, an interior designer, is blown away

I just wanted to connect with the low-info swing voters who could make or break this thing (my bsky followers)

I am going to go on Finebaum at 4:15 ET to discuss the Protect College Sports Act

6743

Yes but I think doing it after 81-81 is too much

Have we discussed the Astros winning their division at 81-81 and then having the unmitigated audacity to do a bullpen game in Game 1 of the postseason? That's disgusting. A bigger affront to baseball than the trash can thing
