City’s goal, while funny them beating United down to ten men, is an absolute farce. How Enzo Fernandez is not deemed offside there is insane. He’s influenced Martinez clearing the ball from an offside position.

Incredibly sad news around Jason Arday. As a @theguardian.com subscriber I have to say the coverage these last couple of weeks has been over the top to say the least. That poor man has been hounded to this point by an unrelenting, uncaring press, both Liberal & Conservative leaning

That’s UEFA statement is brilliant. Either Infantino backs down or FIFA as we know it will end up destroyed, which would be no loss.

Crazy that if we’d beaten Haiti 5 nil; and all the other results were the same, we’d still of been knocked out on positive 1 goal difference.

Thank you Steve Clarke. He has been the best manager of my lifetime and possibly ever, but this is the right time to go. So many great night outweigh the negatives, cheers 🍻

This Space X IPO document is wild, like the worst excesses of the 1920s or the late 1990d but potentially even more ridiculous. Price will likely skyrocket too on launch due to the restricted demand of free floated shares available but it’s all built on nonsense. Pie in the sky

Cannot stand NIMBYs but especially cannot stand left wing ones such As this www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... “Semi-rural” is doing some heavy lifting by the journalist here too 😂 If you build more houses you will increase supply, the interaction between demand and supply will reflect the price.

It’s really handy that international law allows you the scope to bomb a capital city with no declaration of war & just kidnap the leadership.

Too many players are far too complacent in our team. They are good players but far too many just get picked regardless of form: Hanley, Robbo, McTominay, McGinn especially, no one should be able to just coast through games & we do that so, so often. We need to wake up

Not a Hearts fan but cheered their goals today, desperate to see anyone other than Rangers or Celtic win the league, 40 years, longer than I’ve been on this earth, is a ridiculous timeframe of dominance from two teams.

I want us to play better & was one of the moaners & groaners last night at times (though I didn’t boo a win ffs) but I’m annoyed as we know we can do better & I want us to do better. Performances have to improve in November and in Athens/home to Denmark we can’t just ride our luck but….

The B team experiment in the challenge cup isn’t going too well, while the mighty Caley Jags are romping the first phase I wonder if this will bring benefits to the young boys of the 10 Prem sides, as they are being hammered by League One & League Two teams Championship teams arrive next round

Alex Johnstone @alexjohnstone01.bsky.social · 13/09/2025
This is a great win for the Caley Jags. Very poor match overall but it’s a long season and these are the sort of games we have to win if we want Inverness back to where we should be, at the very least, the Scottish Championship

Listening to Hibs on Sportscene, sounds like a great game, really invested in wanting Hibs to go through, pretty sick of Scottish glorious failure. You could see this Hibs team getting through the league stage if they win tonight. David Gray has done some job

The latest GERS report coverage by The Fraser of Allander institute is good fraserofallander.org/gers-reactio... I do always think that the key to understanding Scotland’s fiscal position now is the acknowledgement that policy choices can (and would change) in the advent of independence

Seems insane this was 1 year ago today. It was such an anti-climax. I’m still a bit shocked that Clarke survived in the role tbh.

Alex Johnstone @alexjohnstone01.bsky.social · 09/06/2025
Scotland really could do with a convincing win tonight & if I was Clarke I’d use tonight as a way to try something new + send a message to a cohort of players who have been unconvincing, at best, for a while: Robbo, McGinn & Hanley, all should be dropped tonight as all have been pretty poor lately

Very happy that the assisted dying bill has passed first reading at Holyrood today. Liam McArthur deserves great credit for the way he has approached this subject & got this important legislation through. I believe people deserve choice but obviously there needs to be the necessary safeguards

Not saying I support it but could easily envision Steve Clarke taking us to the World Cup in 2026 then leaving at the end of his contract & if Falkirk have. A good season in the top flight the SFA hiring John McGlynn. Would have had 3 good seasons in a row, crucially cheap & the SFA are also lazy

I think Brian Leishman here is 100% correct in his analysis but this could be sadly clearly seen before Keir won the election. He’s a man who seem to hold no actual convictions, affirming positions that are convenient for the audience in front of him at the time.

SNP Cathcart & Pollok branch candidate voting opened today. My first preference was for Zen Ghani to represent the party in the constituency. May 2026 will come up fast and there is a pretty big chance that the SNP will retain the first minister position

There’s folk in Scotland that would happy see Holyrood closed down. There are significantly less children in poverty than would be otherwise the case if the SNP weren’t in government.

Could tell instantly when the teams were released last night we maybe in trouble, they’d changed half their team after a hard game on Thursday, we made just the one change. The lack of freshness was apparent, especially with our players who are the wrong age of 30. The defeat is on Clarke.

Please, please please Steve Clarke play Ryan Christie next to Billy Gilmour. That would be absolutely class, Ryan providing the physicality, Gilmour doesn’t misplace a pass, we would have such, such a solid midfield base. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

This is why I think Arsenal will win the English league www.theguardian.com/football/202... As Liverpool have 3 of their best players all potentially leaving for pastures new; hopefully none sign a new deal & their team spirit falls apart completely due to Fenway Sports parsimony.

Big fan of this decision as after I get round to deactivating my twitter, I need to deactivate my Facebook. Facebook is dead anyway, for years it was the place where older folk communicated but even by 66 year old mum is now coming off Facebook. She’s in big in the YouTube comment section

It’s likely Portugal will beat Denmark so our group may be: Denmark Greece Scotland: Land of the Scots Belarus I’ll take that. We can beat all those teams at home, and Denmark isn’t as scary a pot 1 team as it could have been. We can win that group, Greece & Denmark will be thinking the same

Alex Johnstone @alexjohnstone01.bsky.social · 13/12/2024
I don’t really understand why group 2 teams need to be moved also? Poland got drawn and moved to group G but Greece after them were fine for Group C. I don’t really know what’s going on

Watching the World Cup draw in spite of myself Dearie me, they’ve tied themselves up in knots, incredibly complicated. I’m a fan of the Nations league too but this could have been avoided if they didn’t introduce quarter finals & just have group A winner win it, then you could have an open draw

This headline is exactly the argument why I argued before Starmer was elected that he was going to be a terrible leader. My worry with the last election wasn’t that Labour would win, it was that they would win & then be insipid. This will lead to a far right backlash in to all of our detriment
