I've been a great admirer of the films of Kenji Mizoguchi for many years, but A Story From Chikamatsu was a blind spot for me. I finally watched it last night and I went to bed feeling so sad, and yet so at peace. There were profound lessons to be learned here.

For fun I collect vintage advertising. It's a cheap hobby digging through old ads in antique malls. This is one of my favorites. The Minolta SRT-101 was my first (...and still most beloved) camera and you have to admit this ad was rather bold. It was featured in Playboy and Penthouse magazines.
