I had never worn Olympic-branded underwear until today Britain had never won multiple gold medals at the Winter Olympics until today Makes you think…

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 07/02/2026

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you’re not watching the Olympics on multiple screens, you’re no watching the Olympics at all #MilanoCortina2026

Ditaji Kambundji is a world champion! I can’t believe it! #Tokyo2025

I’ve NEVER seen a stadium get so animated for steeplechase before #Tokyo2025

I appreciate one of said stories is due to the unexpected and tragic death of Ricky Hatton, but the rest are all scheduled events that WA have chosen to directly compete against

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 14/09/2025

I’m not sure about having the World Athletics Championships in September because of the risk of getting overshadowed by other sports. Case in point, there are six stories before any mention of it on BBC Sport right now

Dear Nike, Adidas and whoever else may manufacture athletics kits for Britain, Please make a kit that looks like a British kit. That is all.

Currently at Heathrow Terminal 3, so guess which Eurovision song is stuck in my head

110

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 07/09/2025

That was a minute late. Just as with infrastructure, this country can’t deliver anything on time

Bus driver on a service I’ve never been on before: Instead of taking our normal route, we will be going right, then going straight, then left, then right again. This is why I normally take the train

2:01.23 for Anna Hall in the 800m in Götzis- a World Heptathlon Best taking her to 7032 points, tied with Carolina Klüft on the all-time list

011

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 31/05/2025

So many athletics meetings could learn from Götzis in how to hold races in quick succession

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 17/05/2025

Interesting choice to just not show the scoreboard for 90% of the voting

Is the tribute to Mujinga Kambundji going to be in the second semi final or are they saving it for the final? #Eurovision

Here are my (hastily made) predictions for tonight’s qualifiers from the #Eurovision semi final: Iceland 🇮🇸 Estonia 🇪🇪 Ukraine 🇺🇦 Sweden 🇸🇪 Norway 🇳🇴 Belgium 🇧🇪 San Marino 🇸🇲 Albania 🇦🇱 Netherlands 🇳🇱 Cyprus 🇨🇾

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 08/04/2025

It’s just hit me that spectators wanting a coffee at next year’s Winter Olympics will have no choice other than Costa. I’m sure that’ll go down well in Italy

010

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

Seeing them struggle with the adhesive on the bibs at GST shows that that’s not the solution. I cannot think of a single drawback to using velcro #NotSponsored

100

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

Genuine question: why don’t they just use velcro to fasten the athletes’ bibs to their vests?

110

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 06/04/2025

I’m glad they’ve added more VTs to the GST coverage today so you can get to know the athletes. The problem is that they provide no context for the casual viewer as to what to expect in the race

010

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

This explainer video for Grand Slam Track is hilariously awful. Never have I ever seen a voiceover so monotone or rushed

010

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

I paid $12 this afternoon to watch the final two days of the men’s curling world championships, only to realise I could’ve been watching it on TNT Sports all along 😭

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

Agreed. There doesn’t seem to be anything at stake apart from money, and if you’re not already familiar with the sport then why would you care who wins it?

010

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

I wonder if they’ll revise the timetables if they bring this back next year

100

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

Yeah, I’m not convinced by the concept. I’m trying to give it a fair chance though

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

Yeah the sparse crowds aren’t a good look for the sport. I’d guess that the three day format will make the attendances look even worse

100

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

I thought they would have gone for something similar to the International Swimming League format of back-to-back races. GST is definitely giving time to allow people to lose interest and turn over

110

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 04/04/2025

I think the demand could be generated in North America, it’s just that the audience has been neglected with poor coverage and poor management of the sport

100

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 04/04/2025

I get that the idea is to create something palatable for US networks, don’t know if this complicated format meets that brief though

100

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 04/04/2025

The attendance at the first evening of Grand Slam Track makes me think that this isn’t the event that “saves” the sport

310

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 29/03/2025

It’s a bronze medal for them, in what must be a massive confidence boost less than one year out from the Olympics

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 29/03/2025

Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson have gone into first place in the Ice Dance at the Figure Skating World Championships With just two pairs to go, they are guaranteed Britain’s first medal at the Worlds since 1984

110

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 28/03/2025

LA 2028 have confirmed that the BMO Stadium will host Flag Football and Lacrosse at the next Olympics The stadium was previously slated to host the qualifying rounds of the throwing events, meaning that all athletics events now look set to be held together at the Memorial Coliseum

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 25/03/2025

World Athletics merging the DSD and Transgender Regulations seems like a recipe for disaster. You can’t have a conversation with a casual fan about gender in sport without them conflating the two. So many more DSD athletes are going to be wrongly identified as transgender because of this

010

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 25/03/2025

Because this is the innovation that will save athletics…

100

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 23/03/2025

These have been a thoroughly enjoyable championships. Obviously far from the standard you’d expect from a World Indoors but still great to watch

000

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 22/03/2025

A return from a doping ban with a World Indoor silver medal. Lesson not learnt.

010

Alex Walker @alexhwalker.bsky.social · 21/03/2025

Jeremiah Azu, World Indoor Champion 👏
