New paper alert! How do 2,600km of river shape a microbiome? We surveyed the #Danube to quantify bacterial turnover at a continental scale. The key takeaway: Water Travel Time (WTT) is the master regulator of macroecological patterns, while local environment "fine-tunes" the response.
