Thank you! I've got another one that blends the two colours I'm very fond of. I love that felt frog you made!

I'll play! QRP and show us something you made recently that made you happy! Art, craft, writing, etc... anything! Here are some mugs I made recently for an order. The proceeds from my pottery sales go straight into commissioning #comics work so was pleased to get this through. #pottery

On this ✨ #smallpressday ✨ why not grab yourself a deeeeal from Scottish comics creators. There’s amazing work in here. Support small presses and an important cause all in one. Enjoy the first pages from PuddleJumpers Issue 1 in the collection. itch.io/b/3727/scott...

I go back and forth on whether I like the raw body outer and colourful inner. I think maybe a more matte clear glaze here would do the job. Body: Sibelco Scandi Glaze: Spectrum Floating Bougainvillea

Probably. my favourite mug of the moment. Weighty! And the handle feels great in my hand. Holds a decent amount of tea as well. Body: Sibelco Scandi Glaze: Spectrum Floating Turquoise + Floating Bougainvillea

Not thrilled with the glazing on this one (think tenmoku looks a little odd if it doesn't go all the way to the bottom) but the delicate handle makes me happy Body: Sibelco Scandi Glaze: Tenmoku

One of my favourite happy accidents is why my handle pulls away from the bottom connection and hangs free. I *will* figure out how to make this happen deliberately Body: Sibelco Scandi Glaze: Potpurri

State secrets of the heart.
a three panel photo-comic.
panel 1: a person in shadow from the waist up, wearing a green coat. "if our governments knew we'd met..."
panel 2: a person in shadow from the wait up, wearing a red coat and holding a bag. "I don't care, I love you. And I've got enough state secrets in this bag.
Panel 3: the two figures standing side by side, upper bodies still in shadow. "to pay for a bangin' wedding."

Hi #PortfolioDay 🫡 I'm Alex, I write comics. Here are the first 3 pages of 'PuddleJumpers' issue 1 and a sneak peak at what's coming with issue 2. Plus some of my silly solo work under 'This Constant Experiment' as well. Hope you like what you see!
The first 4 pages of Puddlejumpers issue one, showing two of the main characters landing on a remote island, and immediately beginning to argue. two people stand in front of a bar with a sign calling it 'The Barrel Roll' The bar has a logo of a person swinging a beer tankard around while riding a barrel with wings.A black and white page showing the crowded interior of a bar. One of the characters looks nervous, while another calls to them to join them.

1 of the things I'm most excited to see put on the page is @crowwkui.bsky.social 's renditions of 2 of the characters' younger selves. There's a scene at the start of the issue that I'm really enjoyed writing playing with what #comics makes possible. Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/ale...

12/13 The comic's also given me a chance to push my writing and make more of the storytelling opportunities afforded uniquely by comics as a medium. There's a little moment in Issue 2 that I'm very excited to see on page. I hope we get there.

11/13 Melia and Byron are back, with a chance to make their names (and in Byron's case, reforge his reputation). And the gang's expanding as well with some characters I am so excited to do more with.

10/13 Issue 2’s an expansion of that original setting, with more characters, a larger world, and represents the beginning of a longer arc that I hope people will want to follow along with...

9/13 I imagined a character who had taken a shortcut to the thing he wanted, only to find that it left him underwhelmed and isolated. Who was looking for an opportunity to do things right this time, if he could only get a chance. Enter an old friend who would give him that chance... eventually.

8/13 From there, I needed some characters. And I landed on two young ‘PuddleJumpers’ with a bit of history. That history was a way for me to explore a lot of the impatience that I had felt in the past about creative work, and just wanting to have done it, rather than doing it….

7/13 To create unique areas and scenarios for my characters to find their way through. A kind of ‘monster of the week’ format that would let me play around with lots of ideas, characters, and obstacles.

6/13 And that gave me my rough outline. A setting made up of hundreds of islands, broken up by broad swathes of oceans that called for occasional quick deliveries (making use of plane-couriers). A society like this would be decentralised in an interesting way, giving me lots of chances…

5/13 I’m a big fan of Becky Chambers’ Wayfarer series. A kind of hopeful, community and people-focused sci-fi that takes a look at how people exist with one another in complex and challenging situations. It occurred to me that an archipelago is a lot like a star-system…

4/13 The planes leant themselves to one idea already with their existing use. Courier work taking items to interesting and far-flung locations gives lots of interesting narrative opportunities, but I was looking for something more…

3/13 I’ve always loved the look of small, rugged things. Particularly when they’ve been designed with a task (silly or serious) in mind. So I knew there was an aesthetic there that appealed to me, and started looking around for an idea to go with it…

2/13 The key jumping off point for this whole project was my love of tiny little ‘bush-planes.’ If you’ve never seen these, they’re very small, very light aircraft. Often with ‘off road’ or backcountry fittings to make it possible to land them places a plane would normally never go...

I’ve mostly been sharing art from PuddleJumpers because I love what Vicky’s done so much. But I figured today I’d write a lil thread about my ambitions for PuddleJumpers as a series.
