I wish I read more in other genres that are easier to write. I always feel so overwhelmed and incapable writing in my favorite genres because I’m not being big or splashy enough.

[BLACK SWAN X BUNNY X HILL HOUSE] If Eden wants the solo, she just has to survive the freak accidents that keep killing the other ballerinas, a ill-fated attraction to her idol, and her chronic illness. Oh, and the haunted house she brought to life. Oops. #P2Ppit #A #H #Q

a 3X3 moodboard: a close up sultry shot of a face; ballerinas in white dresses; a greenhouse; a half-frozen lake; a quote "elegance is more important than suffering"; a distorted picture of a flooded room; a gothic-esque hallway; a ballerina sitting on stairs in a white costume; a pale girl with dark hair.

Sierra loves her family and fears becoming them. Their healing hurts and their pills make you sick. But as infectious iron creeps through veins like kudzu, she is forced to take on her dark inheritance. If she must deal with monsters, she might as well become one. #P2Ppit #Q #YA

This is a moodboard / collage of orange and green images with a spooky, earthy vibe. There is a white woman's eye reflecting a fire, a vine-tangled arm reaching for a moth, a photo of top surgery scars with barbed wire tattoos, a black woman hidden in kudzu, and a poster of Mothman

INHERITANCE GAMES x DON’T LET THE FOREST IN After years of avoiding personal connections, Lia is forced to share her grandfather's mysterious inheritance with the boy who made her lose everything 🌿 YA horrormance 🌿 unhinged siblings 🌿 Latine & chronic illness rep #P2Pit #W #H #YA

Title: Something Lingers. A YA Horrormance WIP

One predicts death, and the other knows how to escape it. When Lia’s estranged grandfather passes and she’s called to the reading of his will, she learns much has changed about his estate — the walls are black with grime, the grand chandeliers are rusted, and most startling of all… the estate’s main benefactor is not Lia, but a strange and reckless boy from her childhood. No longer in line to inherit her family’s lineage, Lia insists on learning more about the friend she left behind.

After years of avoiding personal connections, Lia is forced to share her grandfather's mysterious inheritance with the boy who made her lose everything. Plotting to tear him apart, she finds a crack in her plan: connections can spawn forbidden truths, horrific lies, and peculiar love.

green-toned creepy moodboard with this text in front: unhinged rich siblings, messy (creepy?) friends, love triangle, mysterious return of relative, Latine sisters

In the new year, my main goal will be to read primarily physical TBR. I have way too many books and yet I mainly read audio/ebooks from Libby 😭

I interned for a major agent back in 2021, and although she passed on every partial I read for her, nearly all of those books (even the ones I didn't like) have since gone on to get book deals. And that makes me just a little more hopeful 💛

One thing that makes it really hard to imagine getting an agent is the fact that so many agents LOVE a romance subplot in every genre. I don’t want to write romance like that (it feels so fake from my end) so I wonder if anyone will ever be okay with my non-romance-focused MCs. Let my MCs just live!

Let it be known that my current #amquerying project makes me feel nauseous just thinking about it, and I don't think that stress is worth it when agent rejects are so personalized. Whenever I write my next book, I hope it doesn't feel the same.

Are there tips on knowing if a genre or type of story in that genre is 1) beginning saturation or 2) boring to agents? I’m now seeing announced deals similar to my querying wip & I can’t help but think at least some agents were tired of my type of story or had a client like me. But I didn’t know!
