Officially back on my bullshit. The good shit. The comp circuit. Feeling energised and excited to enter the pit of writing contests again and have my ass handed to me by some awesomely talented people! 🥊😊

This has to be my most down-to-the-wire finish ever. I’m gonna throw up. No one talk to me for a week, minimum. #notquitewriteprize

So yeah. Watch Adolescence if you want to be holding your sleeping toddler to your chest while sobbing quietly into a pillow at 2am, basically.

Taking a nap halfway through a first draft only hours before a deadline is part of my creative process, I promise.

Surprised. Elated. Full of dread for finals.

Twisted Tournament is always such a blast, and I’ll continue to enter forever until I die. Seventh place overall feels pretty cosy, especially when I’m on that board with so many familiar names of incredibly talented people 🥰 🎯 Total Score: 26.31 ⭐ Average: 8.77 📊 Rounds: R1: 8.12 R2: 8.69 R3: 9.51

Finally reading Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott and realising how often people have quoted her at me over the years. To be fair, she is clearly a genius.

Submitted for NYCM Flash, but at what cost?

They should invent horse blinkers but for writers who are already signed up to way too many things.

I was so hyped listening to the longlist and counting how many friends and beta-buddies made it that I almost missed this! I’m pleased with this little story, but even more pleased to have SO MANY names to root for in the shortlist next week. Congrats, everyone! #NotQuiteWritePrize

But sir, how can I be expected to focus on my real life job when @notquitewrite.com is going to drop their April longlist any minute now? 👀

This is one of my favourite writing contests right now! If you’re a flash fiction writer and you’re not signed up, definitely consider entering for July (and listen to the podcast for insights into the judging process).

If anyone needs the sweet, sweet dopamine of yet another contest, Twisted Tournament is a blast. The prompts are 🧑‍🍳💋 (AND there are rerolls!)

Probably going to stay up until an obscene hour waiting for the Writers Playground results. I want the winners NAMES, and I want them NOW.

Also have to shout out my friend, my beta buddy, my fellow goblin, Steven Huff. He wrote an amazingly sad, beautiful, hopeful story that I still can’t believe was only 250 words. Congratulations on the HM!!

Over the moon with my fourth place in the NYCM 250 word challenge!! Congratulations to the winners, to everyone that placed, and to everyone that created!

Crazy impressed with the level of detail in the @notquitewrite.bsky.social feedback for their contest submissions (and not just because they were very nice to me 😂). If anyone’s on the fence about critique packages, they are worth it!

About where I expected to land, and a new personal best! Got knocked out by a great story, and read some amazing work this morning. Congratulations to the winners! Congratulations to everyone that beat their personal best! Congratulations to everyone that thought of, wrote, and submitted a story!

I’m a little bit speechless about this one! Second place is such an honour, knowing the impressive quality of the stories submitted to the Not Quite Write Prize. If anyone is on the fence about this contest, it’s an absolute blast! (No fart pun intended—or is there? 👀)

I looked at an old version of my calendar and thought this weekend was a rare contest free break. Signed up for another contest because goblins abhor a vacuum, only to remember the possibility of finals for NYCM 250 AND finals for the SFS comp. Locking in for a hectic weekend. Nobody talk to me 😭

Feeling incredible today, with a story published in @elegantliterature.bsky.social’s Crossroads and Consequences issue (and first place for the associated Spoken contest!) and making the long list for @notquitewrite.bsky.social’s Not Quite Write Prize!

Second place in NYCM Rhyming Story feels unreal. I’m relatively new to the contest circuit, and this was my first ever NYCM contest, so the last thing I expected when I signed up was to place. Actually, I think I said to a friend “I’ll just embarrass myself”. Sometimes risks pay off.

Hi, my name’s Alexandria and I’m… i’macontestgoblin. I knew I officially had a problem five minutes ago, when instead of writing for one of the several contests I have already enrolled in and paid for, I found a new contest to enter.
