“Harriet is a free-spirited 12-year-old with a sharp tongue, a big heart & a penchant for magic. From the moment she and her sister were born, their lives were predestined: Harriet would be the Fairy Queen, while Virtuosa would be the Fairy Godmother.

There’s only one problem—Harriet doesn’t want any part of being queen. Not the rules and decorum, or uncomfortable gowns, or judgy courtiers and tutors waiting for her to fail. She’d rather ride horses with the wind in her perpetually-tangled hair, have fun with her sister/best friend, or use the magic that comes to her naturally. But Harriet doesn’t have a choice: in Charmington, happy endings are dictated by the magical Book of Fate, and defying the Book would unleash chaos on the kingdom.

Harriet would do anything to protect the people she cares about. So with everyone depending on her, she endures the suffocating restrictions (and an even MORE suffocating prince) until her Happily Ever After turns more horrible than she can bear, and she has to make a choice. Will she unleash the magic she’s been forced to tamp down and embrace her true self to break free… even if it means defying the Book AND her sister, the very person who enforces it? As fairy tales fall apart and legendary destinies turn upside down, Harriet and her sister will need to find a way to put their differences aside—or everyone in Charmington will live UNhappily ever after.”
