Very mad that this one was discontinued before I could even try it. I think this scent would cure me.

Always ready to celebrate these beasts.
An illustrated chart showing different species that live in the Mississippi River and its tributaries: catfish, a siren, alligator snapping turtle, American eel, soft shell turtle, bowfin, paddlefish, sturgeon, and a giant alligator gar.

This year is the Audubon Society’s 125th annual Christmas Bird Count, an event in which naturalists throughout the western hemisphere head out to check on how our birds are doing. I was very honored to be asked to create the artwork to celebrate this very special anniversary. #sciart #kidlitart

And the other guy:

My author-illustrator debut, Wilds of the United States (Chronicle Books), was a specific response to the rolling back of protections on our public lands. I wanted to honor the incredible and overlooked wild species and ecosystems we’re lucky to have in this country.

Closeups. I made sure I got each of the main species of feral parrot and parakeet species in Los Angeles into this flock; the other birds reflect the different ecosystems of the city. (I also threw in one more introduced bird, the bulbul, in honor of the pair that live in my neighborhood) #sciart

The desert bighorn made it onto the banner on the front of the museum, which was pretty wild to see.

Another illustration created for the Cal Academy’s State of Nature exhibit. They had different illustrators for each of the California ecosystems: ocean, mountain, desert. Last year we started living part time in Joshua Tree, so I loved getting to represent the Mojave Desert in the exhibit. #sciart

Somehow our tv reset in a way that means when it turns on it goes automatically to a channel that ONLY shows episodes of Project Runway, and honestly I really miss this deranged show.
A model walks down the runway wearing an insane dress made of party supplies

I’d actually wanted to have a spread or an illustration on the Mojave super look in my book, Wilds of the United States, but it didn’t end up making the cut. Was satisfying to have a reason to finally illustrate it. #kidlit #kidlitart
