Yeah, I mean more when you're all supposed to be working together on a project......... Like in a group channel, group chats and direct DMs.

I don't mean a chatbot; I mean people connecting their Slack or Discord to an agent. So you think you're talking to someone, but it's actually an agent doing it all for them and you're talking to a bot.

I always wonder: where does it lead? Ah want to stay sane while working in software. You need to use AI as a filter for everything... it feels a little dark lol Invent a spam problem, then force me to pay for AI to prevent AI spam lol.

Some people don't bother talking anymore or trying to understand the issue/project/roadmap. I get walls of text pasted from an LLM. In Slack/Discord, I wonder if it's even a real person. A few times now, it's just been a bot using the person's account. Cripples my motivation a little...

Hell Yeah! Ordered. Somehow shipping to Australia was free? Can’t wait till it arrives! Wish there were more books on sustainability in our field.

Another crazy jump was the total number of requests it could handle in our load tests. You can see how much hard work the team at @solidjs.com put into version two of SolidStart.

Another tease of the @e18e.dev framework tracker is our improvement-over-time page for each framework. We record each major and minor version for every test. Picking on @solidjs.com here, but look at some of the improvements in version two for SolidStart. SSR First Paint and Build Times:

All these stats are for Desktop; we'll include mobile versions as well. One final sneak peek at the HTTP Archive data: Interaction to Next Paint

You might be wondering why @tanstack.com is not in there. Don't worry, our very own @rdforte.bsky.social got it added in, and it will be in the dataset any day now. Of course, frameworks don't control how people use them, so HTTP Archive data is not enough to go on. More sneak peeks coming.

The @e18e.dev framework tracker is nearing an official release. We have worked hard to include a wide array of stats on meta-framework performance, including data from HTTP Archive. See below for a sneak peek at the percentage of sites in each framework that meet the benchmark. 🧵

Tried to read a blog post on APIs today... Between AI hoovering up everyone's stuff and more and more governments age-gating the internet, I think the open web is rapidly in decline.

I try to keep regular pair design, architecture, planning, and programming going on my team. We all seem happier and produce better work when we do. However I have never seen a work world as isolated as it is now. I have to work much harder to keep the pairing happening.

Watching my partners parents age has cemented something I started to realise when I worked with tech in schools. Replacing everything with apps, websites and tech was a really fucking stupid idea. It's so much harder for them to enjoy life now that everything's an app not a person.

Coming from JS and Go, I found Java weird and do not enjoy it. Then I used Kotlin and now don't mind working in JVM world 🤣. Kotlin also reminds me a lot of Swift which I also enjoyed. So much care and though was put into Kotlin and it really shows.

Oh, I do love Kotlin. So much so I tried to bring some of it to JS: es.discourse.group/t/array-prot... Building services in Kotlin is such a joy. Still, there is something lovely about JS/TS that pulls me back a lot.

No matter how many other languages I try and love, Go and Kotlin, for example, I always come back to JS/TS. I know it's not perfect, but I really do love building with it.

I would really love to stop paying for Grammarly. Spelling and grammar often jumble themselves in my head. Does anyone have some good recommendations on alternatives? I never need it on my phone. People I care enough about to text can suck it, lol. I only use it in browsers and apps when I write.

🧵(4/4) Sure, I can often navigate around poor software when forced to, but what about people who don't work in tech? What about people with disabilities? I remember the first time I watch a visually impaired person use the internet I realised why doing my job well was important. Quality matters.
