Every story has an ending, but horror doesn't always have happy ones. Q4: What sort of very short (mouse-sized?) story can you write which has a sting in the tale? #HorrorWritersChat
Just when you thought it's was curtains, you find yourself scooped up in an old jam jar. Huge, leering faces gawp at you through the glass while they boom and shout at each other.

Eventually, the largest human releases you at the bottom of the garden, and you quickly run into the undergrowth, relieved to be alive. You made it halfway through your first night... But what now?

It's cold, and dark, and you are still hungry. Who knows what else is out there - yet what else can a little mouse do? You keep scurrying.

Write a short horror story with a strong ending. And by 'strong', I mean 'The Mist' via 'The Thing.'

Right, you 'orrible little (James) Herberts. El Gato de Ulthar is hot on your furry little heels, and you're lunch if they get you. Are you a Mrs. Frisby, a Matthias or just plain taking the Mickey? Q3: What do you define as a monster in your horror, and how do you make it work? #HorrorWritersChat
You thought it was heaven - all that food! But you weren't the only hungry creature in the kitchen.

Now you're being pursued by an enormous beast that has no business moving with the speed and agility it has.

Worse, it's catching up with you and you can't outrun it.

The roar terrifies you. "MEOW!!!"

(Who needs Tekeli-li?)

What sort of monsters (literal or otherwise) do you like to use in your horror. How do they work, and why did you choose them?

What is a human world to a little mouse but horror? Q2: How do you make your horror stories horrible? Is it detail, emotion, pathos, fear or even comedy? Or something else? How do YOU make the punters quiver? #HorrorWritersChat
As you scavenge for food under the floorboards, you find others of your kind, cruelly snapped in two by spring traps, ripped apart as they tried to escape glue traps, or drowning in their own blood through poison. Worse, some are still barely alive, dying slowly...

In desperation, you chew and gnaw your way into the kitchen. But is there any hope for you there?

How do you create horror in your stories? What techniques? Language? Imagery? Monetised childhood traumas?

Good morrow, my dear little vermin. It's the weekly Horror Writers Chat! This week, I will be taking you down a rabbit hole, or to precise, into a mouse hole. Soo-ooo-ooo... Q1: Introduce yourselves, gorge on that Stinking Bishop, and tell us what sort of fiction you write. #HorrorWritersChat
You awaken, but something is... wrong. Your whiskers twitch and your small, beady eyes quickly adjust to the gloom. Too quickly. Peering out of a hole you can see a living room, but everything is, somehow, ENORMOUS.

You nearly trip over the tail you never had, until now. You're a mouse? But who were you before your transformation, and what kind of fiction did you write before things got a little... Squeaky?

NO self promo until the end. I mean it! Don't make me eat you.

Like, share, comment, and generally spread the plague.

This is where I post from
A Robin Reliant, the notoriously flimsy-looking UK car with only three wheels. This particular example is a horrible rotting flesh green in colour, with various altogether better vehicles in the background. It is in a car park on a rainy day, over a never-ending number of long rectangular bricks arranged artfully on the ground in a herringbone formation.

A screen capture from Oddschecker. 64% of punters have bet on Binface winning, despite bookmakers giving him a 33/1 odds to win, contrasted with Reform / Farage, who have received 30% of the votes, but are odds-on favourites. SOURCE: www.oddschecker.com/politics/bri...
A pie chart from the Oddschecker site, covering the most popular bets on the site in regards to the (first) 2026 Clacton by-election. This is accurate as of 13/08/2026 (the day of the election) at 16:45 BST.

Most of the pie chart is dark grey, which represents the numbers of bets cast for Count Binface. This contrasts with his odds, listed next to the cart, which are 33/1. Compare and contrast to a much smaller slice of the pie, which is, fittingly, teal coloured and representing Reform/Nigel Farage, even though they are favourites (1/50) to win. Showing the limits of using betting markets as predictors of political outcomes, the third biggest slice is for Labour (confusingly, in light green), even though they are not standing in this election to begin with...

The Elixir of Buggery and Crime:
A pot of Tamiya Extra Thin Cement - probably the default glue for plastic modellers of all kinds as it really is that good. It has a lovely lime green lid and a clear glass bottle/jar with the Tamiya logo, crowned or semi-encircled by blue and red text which gives the name of the product in a thin sans serif font. (The Tamiya logo itself consists of two white stars next to each other, the one on the left in a red square and the other in a blue square.)

Beneath this are the product details:

It's worth pointing out that the Women’s Rights Network is trying to brigade Féile an Phobail on Facebook:
A Facebook post by the self-styled Women's Rights Network, posted in a reply thread for a Belfast Telegraph article, covering their Féile an Phobail event being cancelled and JK Rowling vowing to fund the WRN's legal costs.

Black serif text on white background, with the usual grey upvote, downvote and reply buttons, plus a blue thumbs up and a red heart symbol.

The text says:

"If you believe in free speech, open debate, and the importance of hearing a range of lawful viewpoints, please take a moment to contact Féile and respectfully ask them to reinstate the Women’s Rights Network event, Respect, Rights and Reality, which was due to take place on 4 August.

"Please keep all correspondence polite and respectful. A simple request for Féile to trust debate, trust its audience, and allow this lawful discussion to go ahead can make a difference.

An utterly savage, utterly brilliant summation of the US-Iran peace deal, care of Coco over at France's Libération newspaper. (Dated: 19 June 2026) #Trump #Iran #Khamenei #Hormuz
A cartoon by French artist Coco, for Liberation newspaper. White background. Donald Trump, in a grey suit, and with his too-long red tie, is bend over, signing the peace deal he struck with Iran. But he is in terrible pain, sweating, his eyes tightly shut. He is also bent over, and the reason why is in the form of a generic black-clad, bearded Iranian mullah, also snarling with exertion. Why? Because he has forced his arm so far up Trump's bottom, it has emerged out of the latter's mouth and its hand is signing Iran's part of the deal.

Both pens are making a 'Scritch' sound.

Written at the top, in red calligraphic text, is the following:

"...ACCORD SIGNE DES DEUX PARTIES!"

Which translates from the French to:

"Agreement signed by the two parties!"

My BlueSky group chat.
Alexander Hay lookalike Trixie The Cat poses with her human, Henry Wriothesley, 3rd Earl of Southampton, in their famous 1603 portrait (possibly) by John de Crtiz. She's a fierce looking tuxedo cat. He's a tall, long featured and lightly bearded Tudor chap with a notably high forehead and long hair. He is wearing black clothes with white lace cuffs and wide shirt collar, which may suggest he was trying to look a bit like his cat. As you do. His right hand is gloved and holding the left hand's glove. The left hand, needless to say, is uncovered and has a ring on the little finger. In the background is the standard pleasant Tudor/Jacobean background of solid wood fittings and diamond glass windows. In the top right corner, we see a small but detailed depiction of the Tower of London, where our Henry was imprisoned for a time, and where Trixie famously broke in to keep him company. Because she was hardcore. Written below this is the following legend in Latin: "In vinculis invictus." This translates as "in bonds, yet unconquered", which is certainly one way to describe one's time in chokey.

A pastiche of the late 1960s Doctor Who opening sequence, featuring black and white psychedelic swirls in the background, and the episode's title rendered in capitalised, faintly futuristic sans serif font.

Having used the generator to create this pastiche, I made full use of the opportunity to make the title say: "RTD NEEDS TO JUST FUCK OFF NOW", a classic serial featuring Patrick Troughton, Frazier Hines, Wendy Padbury and Deborah Watling taking turns to hit Russell Davis around the head with a shovel, and then travelling back in time to do it again.

QTP with your favorite Disney princess.
The magnificent spectacle of the Queen Xenomorph, from Aliens (1986), a combination of spider, bio-mechanical lifeform, Lovecraftian horror and dragon, literally crowned with a chitinous crest. She's also seeing that Ripley woman for the first time, who's going to murder her entire brood because, you know, she's a total bitch...

Also, technically, a Disney princess since 2017, when the House of Mouse hived 20th Century Fox.

The Burger King logo on an off-white background. This uses the soothingly soft post-2021 style, where the brand name is split in half and stacked on itself, featured in soothingly chunky maroon serif text, and sandwiched between two halves of a bap, with the subtitle featured underneath.

However, I am a lurid and strange individual, so instead of 'BURGER KING', I put 'SODOMY KIPPER'. And the subtitle says: 'JOY & PAIN'.

Gamedevs! The Retrocollective has relaunched the old Mastertronic budget software label and is looking for (fittingly enough) retro-flavoured games for all platforms, including the original 8-bits it once catered for. Check the image below for info. Or just e-mail mastertronic@retrocollective.co.uk
An advert by the Retrocollective, relaunching 1980s budget label, Mastertronic. It features the brand's logo - a modernist yellow font on a blue wireframe grid, with red diagonal lines. Supimposed over it is a peach coloured wireframe of a vintage arcade machine. On the left, we can see a similar peach wireframe of an old Atari joystick. On the right, we see yet another peach wireframe, this time of a (perhaps unlicensed) X-Wing fighter. Above, one last peach wireframe, this time of a satellite with a faintly 1960s/insectoid aesthetic.

This is on a black background, but above and bordering the main image is an off-white background, with the following large, bold serif font text:

"MASTERTRONIC 'REACHING THE CREATORS OTHER PUBLISHERS MISS'"

Meanwhile, in the main image, we have a two column body text copy, in an 80s style serif font, somewhat like that used by Ultimate Play The Game in its heyday. It says:

"THE LEGENDARY NAME in budget software publishing has risen from the ashes like a firebird. Tossed into the ocean with no regard for the code masters who published their games on the label and simply forgotten. They didn't even need a hit squad.

"IT'S NOT JUST HARDWARE WE PRESERVE The Retro Collective aims to bring the Masteronic name back to life with new software titles published for vintage and modern retro systems.

"Do you have a game you'd like to publish with us on the Masteronic label?"

(Did you spot all the allusions to classic software houses and budget labels in the text?)

On the right, in creepy white courier font, is the instruction: "Write a horror story using only 3 Words".

He posted this load of self-pitying, self-serving pro-AI shit on Facebook today:
Pro-AI mark 'Glasgalf' posts the following missive on Facebook, dated 19/01/2026, 17:08 GMT, claiming that if you disagree with AI, you may as well be shooting guide dogs or something.

"Disappointed but not surprised, no wonder the left gets nowhere. Can't even try to improve accessibility without being called a traitor, a bastard blah blah

"Honestly go fuck yourselves, I will NOT apologise for making my life and others easier

"This all or nothing with AI is fucking pish, medicine and accessibility is one area it should absolutely be used in

"Should it be used to steal art? Fuck no, but if you want to burn bridges with people over it, off you go then

"I have no issue with people disliking AI, I probably 90% hate it, it should be a tool to assist humans, not replace them

"Yes there's software that already exists but I've had that before, needed to use a PC, had to pay for it if I wanted a good version, this is already installed onto my phone, it's free, it's accessible.

"Edit - why I use it in this one particular use..."

[Much mewling later.]

"...So yeah people could maybe argue I should just use more effort and find alternatives, but I don't see the merit in that argument, I'm a small page, a small fly in the scheme of AI usage, and I use it for one small purpose

"But now I'm a traitor 🙄"

[He then foots this message with a pro-AI meme, because he's incapable of standing his argument up otherwise.]

And somewhat inevitably, she hasn't a clue about AI and its repercussions. Data centres today, slop factories tomorrow! She then has the cheek to appeal to decency.
A post from a Guardian Politics live thread, 12/01/2026. It features a mixture of bold, italicised and standard modern serif text, plus a red hyperlink, and a red text/icon share button at the bottom.

The text reads like so:

"1h ago 17.14 GMT

"Kendall concluded:

"I believe, and the government believes, AI is a transformative technology which has the power and potential to bring around extraordinary and welcome change, creating jobs and growth, diagnosing and treating diseases, helping children learn at school, tackling climate change and so much more besides.

"But, in order to seize these opportunities, people must feel confident that they and their children are safe online and that AI is not used for destructive and abusive ends.

"Many tech companies want to and are acting responsibly, but where they do not, we must and we will act. Innovation should serve humanity, not degrade it.

"So we’ll leave no stone unturned in our determination to stamp out these demeaning, degrading and illegal images.

"If that means strengthening the existing laws, we are prepared to do so because this government stands on the side of decency."

Hang on, are you telling me it was LEGAL to make non-consensual intimate images (in the UK) until now?
A post from a Guardian Politics live thread, 12/01/2026. It features a mixture of bold, italicised and standard modern serif text, plus a red hyperlink, and a red text/icon share button at the bottom.

The text reads like so:

"14m ago 16.54 GMT

"Kendall says law passed last year making creation of consensensual, intimate images criminal offence will come into force this week

"Kendall says the decision by X last week to restrict the Grok AI deepfake tool to subscribers does not go anywhere near far enough.

"She goes on:

"Under the Online Safety Act, sharing intimate images without someone’s consent, or threatening to share them, including images of people in their underwear, is a criminal offence for individuals and for platforms.

"My predecessor [Peter Kyle] rightly made this a priority offence, so services have to take proactive action to stop this content from appearing in the first place.

"The Data Act, passed last year, made it a criminal offence to create or request the creation of nonconsensual and intimate images.

"And today I can announce to the house that this offence will be brought into force this week, and that I will make it a priority offence in the Online Safety Act.

"This means individuals are committing a criminal offence if they create or seek to create such content, including on X. And anyone who does this should expect to face the full extent of the law..."

Two Bluesky posts with exactly the same content, posted 18 minutes apart. The first is from an account called "alexjungle.bsky.social", which has a tropical coastline image for its avatar. The second, "The Editorial Board" has a close up of a bald, bearded man, looking to camara.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, or alice in chains.
The front cover to doom metal band Cathedral's classic 1995 album, "The Carnival Bizarre".

It uses a limited palette, primarily using blue, with white, and various dark shades of red as highlights. It is an abstract composite of images, akin to triptych depictions of hell, but more ethereal and whimsical, if still very creepy.

The centre piece consists of two figures, both skeletal from the neck down. From the neck up, on the left, is a bearded face akin to some medieval depictions of Jesus, with strange blue tubes worn around his head, like a crown of thorns.

To the right, a female face, presumably Mary Magdalene, also wearing a blue squiggly thorn crown. On Jesus' sternum, a cross has been carved, while strange creatures scurry inside their hip bones.

Around them, an arrangement of strange creatures, mythical beasts, nude and semi-nude flying figures, and an enormous horse fly staring directly at us, while holding a small sphere of (presumably) dung in its forelegs.

The Cathedral logo is splashed over the top of the image, while the album title is displayed over the lower rib cages of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Both use a metallic font, the band's logo being faintly Celtic in look, while the album title is in a more gothic typeset.

Art by Dave Patchett.

What with Trump calling a female reporter 'Piggy', I really should note his uncanny resemblance to Charles Le Brun's Pig Man and Boar Man. (1671) In the interests of balance, you understand.
Bizarre orange creature Donald Trump doing that thing with his mouth that looks like an anus. As ever, he has a crap comb-over, nasty piggy eyes and bristly eyebrows, plus generally porcine and brutish features. This will become more relevant in the proceeding images. He's wearing one of his cheap suits with a blue tie. In the background, we see the US flag and the banner of the US army, plus what looks like a mixture of dark grey and white tiles. Originally a screen capture from 'Fox & Friends' in April 2018.Charles Le Brun's study of 'pig men' contrasted with a 'normal' pig. They swine-men have faintly snouted profiles, big noses and piggy eyes, somewhat inevitably looking a bit like Trump. Speaking of which...

Circa, 1671. Public domain.Next, Charles Le Brun's study of a 'boar man' contrasted with a 'normal' boar. The boar man looks a bit mean-spirited and Brutish, and very much resembles an ancestor of current US embarrassment/POTUS, Donald Trump. Both boar-man and boar have a bristly vibe about them, and a nasty, feral dullness in the eyes. Not that I am implying anything here.

And in the boar man's defence, he does seem to still have a full head of hair, a moustache and a faint beard, which Trump seems incapable of growing.

Circa, 1671. Public domain.

It seems Samir Shah, as well as Robbie Gibb, is part of the problem at the BBC, not least due to the former's "how dare you question me, peasant!" vibe.
A screen capture from The Guardian's politics livethread, 11/11/2025, around 18:07 GMT. White background, black modern serif font, hyperlinks in red and underlined. Some text in bold.

The body text goes:

"Shah dismisses staff question about board's values as 'disrespectful'
Frances Mao

Frances Mao is a Guardian reporter.

Another question posed to Samir Shah, the BBC chair, and Tim Davie, the outgoing director general, during the all-staff call this morning was whether the BBC board executives were adhering to the corporation’s six core BBC Values, as listed in its charter and mission statement.

Every BBC employee is required to uphold these values which include Trust (being independent, impartial and truthful), being Accountable (and delivering work of the highest quality) and Respect (being kind and championing inclusivity)..."

I've highlighted the next paragraph as it is the most important one:

"...Shah took the question and said that, of course board members upheld the values. He went on to twice describe the question as 'disrespectful of the people on the board of the BBC'..."

And the excerpt concludes with:

"...He repeated lines he said on Monday when asked about political interference or pressure on the board. 'It’s important that people have a diversity of opinion on the board,' he said..."

(That probably explains the Dalek and Noseybonk's presence on the board.)

Post something random or you’ll have an awful November
The main atrium of a Victorian mansion, shot from the first floor landing, looking diagonally down. Part of the stair case and wooden pillar holding up part of the landing can be seen, alongside the deep red carpet and dark pine paneling featured throughout. We can see a small black coffee table and cream-brown leather sofa on the ground floor, next to the stair case. The sofa has a pleasant light green floral cushion. The ground floor's, err, floor is covered in beautiful geometric pattern tiles. An alcove, next to the pillar can be seen, with a lamp hanging underneath the landing. It has a closed door. To the right, we can see part of the door way, and here the oak paneling gives way to white plaster, small rectangular windows, a white radiator, fire extinguishers and a welcome mat, before a blue main door.

So, Blackpool's North Pier is bragging about having a full house in its theatre for an audience with... Katie Hopkins. But then it closes down the comments, just in case. (FYI: the North Pier is up for sale. It's also where Harry Corbett bought the puppet that would become 'Sooty'.)
A screen capture of a post on the Blackpool North Pier Facebook page. It has a white background, plus a black and grey modern sans serif font.

It features three images, all taken within the pier's theatre. In each one, a packed-out house watches far right grifter Katie Hopkins under blue or white (ahem) general lights, plus one mid-range shot where she appears to be reading a large comedy story book while sitting on a chair, in the middle of the stage, and illuminated by a spotlight.

Blackpool North Pier's account (featuring, fittingly, an avatar featuring a photo of its main entrance) posted this up 17 hours ago. The post's text says:

"Wow what a way to end the theatre season! Another packed out show with Katie Hopkins"

This is followed by inane emoji signifying applause and celebration.

Other information include 952 combined likes and loves, as well as 124 comments and 25 shares. Naturally, the account has limited WHO can comment on this apparent triumph with the following:

"Blackpool North Pier limited who can comment on this post."

Which rather says it all, frankly.

Apropos of nothing, I found this panel (from the Crimson Fall comic) utterly hilarious, as I am both dark and depraved. Thanks, @laufman.bsky.social!
A long, close up, rectangular panel from the Crimson Fall comic. It's black and white, and has an art style somewhere between the detailed gothic horrors of Beserk and the cartoony flourishes of Gravity Falls.

The panel features our hero, the ever-so-slightly violent Sir Duncross, a large, grumpy bearded man wearing scale or chain mail under a tabard, his hands covered by leather gauntlets. He snarls (a bit like a cartoon bear rendered in the CalArts style, it has to be said) as he jams his bastard sword sideways into the mouth of a corrupted monk, looking like a cross between 1922's version of Nosferatu and Eagle Comic's Doomlord.

Blood spurts out of the hell-monk's mouth, its eyes unsettlingly blank. Ironically, it still wears a cross on a chain around its neck, which waves in the air through the force of the killing blow.

SFX: GLURP
Hell-Monk: Glargh!
Sir Duncross: Die, you evil shite!

For some reason, I find this hilarious.

A close up of an oil painting from the early modern period, featuring a very grumpy tuxedo cat called Trixie. She is noted for breaking into the Tower of London to provide company to her primary feeder, Lord Henry Wriotheseley, the 3rd Earl of Southampton. Painted by John de Critz, c. 1603.

As fascists march in London, Blackpool continues to disgrace itself in all manner of new and exciting ways.
A screen capture of a Facebook post by "Scotties Got It", a Blackpool seaside shop selling the sort of cheap 'n cheerful paraphenalia you get in such places. These include sun hats, balls, tat, and England flags. LOTS of England flags.

The image is a 3/4 close up shot of the shopfront.

The accompanying text says:

"Stop the boats Scottie’s supporting all patriots who have traveled to London ❤️please keep it peaceful ❤️"

It's almost as if the Metropolitan Police don't want to offend any future employers. And note who DOES get the Fingermen treatment. "Police are not using live facial recognition in its policing of the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ demonstration..." www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...
A screen capture from a live thread on The Guardian web site, 13/09/2025, at approx 11.29 BST.

The post uses The Guardian's usual modern black serif font, with italics for quotes and bold for emphasis. Red text is used to draw attention to the 'Share' button. White background.

The post reads:

"Police are not using live facial recognition in its policing of the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ demonstration which is beginning on London’s south bank, reports the PA news agency.

"It said:

"'We’re using a mobile CCTV van to help monitor the build up of crowds. Officers have been asked if it’s using ‘live facial recognition’ – we can confirm it is not.'

"The live facial recognition technology – which captures people’s faces in real-time CCTV cameras – was used in the policing operation at the Notting Hill carnival."

The (Britain First-funded) flag-shagging campaign has just reached a roaring crescendo.
A screen capture from the "Fleetwood Nosy Bazzers 2" Facebook group. White background. Black and grey sans serif font, in standard, italic and bold. The name and avatar of the OP has been concealed under lime green. The image is of a horse dressed, somewhat embarrassingly, in a union flag tabard. The poor thing has been stranded on a straggly-looking traffic island, surrounded by signs and sun-parched grass. In the background, on the other side of the road, we see a row of tall bushes and short trees. In the foreground, before the kerb and pavement that rings the island, we see a drain. The horse is impassive, and the sky is drab and grey. Even greyer is the border on both sides of the image. I bet you feel more patriotic already.

As predicted, there are now voices in the UK clamouring for VPNs to be 'age restricted' (as in, used to screw you out of your personal data). Meanwhile, the kids are all 'accidentally' finding porn, Online Safety Act or no Online Safety Act. Rachel de Souza herself is just being used.
A screen capture from today's (19/08/2025) live politics thread on the Guardian web site. Black modern sans serif fonts on a white background, with some red text and lines.

It says:

"Exposure to pornography has increased since the introduction of UK rules to protect the public online, with children as young as six seeing it by accident, research by the children’s commissioner for England has found.

"Dame Rachel de Souza said a survey found that more young people said they had been exposed to pornography before the age of 18 than in 2023, when the Online Safety Act became law.

"More than a quarter (27%) now said they had seen porn online by 11, with some saying they were “aged six or younger” when asked about their first exposure.

"The findings follow on from a similar survey carried out by the children’s commissioner in 2023, and de Souza said they showed that little had improved despite the new law and promises from ministers and tech firms.

"Virtual private networks (VPNs) can allow users to disguise their location online and de Souza has said the government must ensure children are not able to use these tools to avoid the age-check process.

"The government has previously said that while VPNs are legal in the UK for adults, under the Online Safety Act, platforms have a “clear responsibility to prevent children from bypassing safety protections”.

"de Souza told BBC Newsnight:

"'Of course, we need age verification on VPNs - it’s absolutely a loophole that needs closing and that’s one of my major recommendations.

"A government spokesperson said:

"'Let’s be clear: VPNs are legal tools for adults and there are no plans to ban them. But if platforms deliberately push workarounds like VPNs to children, they face tough enforcement and heavy fines. We will not allow corporate interests to come before child safety.'"

This tells you everything you need to know about the 'Online Safety Act'. Keir Starmer and Donald Trump. [Published on a Guardian live thread, 28/07/2025, 14.19 BST]
An excerpt from a Guardian live thread, published on 28/07/2025, at 14.19 BST.

A white background with a combination of standard, bold and italicised sans serif black fonts. At the bottom, a share symbol and link can be see, in red. The time of publication and how long ago it was, relative to the time of screen capture, are featured in smaller grey text.

The excerpt says:

"Starmer says Online Safety Act will not censor Trump's Truth Social social media company

"Q: Are you worried the Online Safety Act is going to censore Truth Social, your social media site?

"Trump jokes that he does not think that is likely.

"Starmer says the act is not about censoring sites. He says the UK is committed to free speech. But children should be protected from things like suicide sites.

"Trump says Congress passed similar legislation, supported by his wife. He goes on:

"I cannot imainge [sic] him censoring Truth Social … I only say good things about him and his country."

In somewhat related news, Collective Shout's logo, quite fittingly, resembles an anus.
The logo for anti-porn, far right entryists Collective Shout. It's a purple star on a white background, looking very much like an anus. Or Melinda Tankard Reist. One of the two.

Meanwhile, the hype about Sanseito and all that lovely, headlines-friendly xenophobia needs to be seen in context. True, 7% are up in arms over 'teh evil foreigns', but the biggest issue BY FAR is the economy and the cost of living. It's this which is costing the LDP votes.
A graphic showing the 'Top Issue for Votes', as conducted by NHK News prior to the 2025 elections. In descending order, the concerns are:

Price hikes/Economy 48%
Pensions/Social Security 18%
Children's policy/Decling birthrate 12%
Policies on foreign residents 7%
Political reform 5%
Foreign policy/National security 4%
Agricultural policy/Rice prices 3%
Constitutional revision 2%
Energy policy/Nuclear plants 1%

This goes hand in hand with a consensus that social media disinformation is a BAD THING, alongside majority support for social media to be regulated, at least during election time.
A pie chart showing the results of an NHK News poll held between late March and mid May, 2025. 52% are concerned 'to some extent' about social media spreading disinformation, while 31% are 'very much' concerned.

Indeed...
The 1984 (7th) Printing of 'Deathtrap Dungeon', the sixth Fighting Fantasy gamebook. This features, perhaps, the best design out of all the editions - a lovely lime green spine and back cover, with a jagged green and black banding at the top of both the front and rear of the book. The front cover also has the classic Iain McCaig image of a 'Bloodbeast', a multi-eyed reptilian slug monster, wallowing in a pool of slime, its many-fanged mouth parting to let a nasty long tonge poke out. The monster is looking over its left shoulder (or whatever counts as a shoulder) and is looking at the viewer in a malevolent, fourth wall breaking moment. In the background, we see the arch of a subterranean dungeon (can you guess which one?) bathed in blue. The front cover also has the book's logo, alongside the usual Fighting Fantasy slogan - "A thrilling fantasy adventure in which YOU are the hero!" The back cover has prices in various currencies, a bar code, an ISBN number, a blurb, and a list of the six FF books published so far at that point, including Deathtrap Dungeon itself. On the bottom of the spine, as well as at the top left of both the back and front cover, we see the Puffin logo, a, err, puffin, representing the children's division of Penguin books. It was, like the rest of the Fighting Fantasy range, the utter bollocks.

Right, everyone - I need you all to stay calm. Something major has happened, perhaps even world-shattering, nay even a new paradigm that may redefine our very understanding of the cosmos... Yes, dear friends, Lyme Regis Museum now has a Mary Anning Waifu! #Anime #Dorset #Palaeontology
An anime-style waifu statuette depiction of famed 19th Century fossil finder and palaeontology pioneer, Mary Anning. She has a cute, thick hairstyle with a fringe and a turquoise dress, topped off with a red bow at the collar and white cuffs. She holds a mattock rested on her left shoulder. Her right hand is holding a canvas bag full of slate grey fossils. For some reason, she's simultaneously striking a power pose and balancing on her left leg, but I guess that's a Moe thing. She is flanked by a loyal and cheerful-looking Border Collie, and all manner of fossilised life in the background, including an Icthyosaur, plus two small Pterosaurs fighting over a nest on a Dorset beach. Meanwhile, a HUGE and real ammonite has been placed behind the diorama for added effect. Sculpted by Syun-ei Suzuki, and available to see now in Lyme Regis Museum.

Their design owes a 'debt', shall we say, to the space vampires' final forms in Lifeforce (1985), but their unique traits make them interesting on their own. They even make a cameo in a later 40k rulebook!
An excerpt from the 6th Edition Warhammer 40,000 rulebook (2012), featuring a depiction of the vampire-like creatures which plague the setting. Looking very much like a cross between a bat, a devil and a Dinosaur, the fiend looks dramatic as it crosses its arms, chiropteran wings creating a suitably Dracula-esque cloak effect. The colours used are faint browns, greys and white, with just the tiniest hint of red in the creature's eyes.
