Casting non-actors can always bring an element of risk, but to my mom's credit, she put in the work and delivered the gravitas, and spiritual depth that befitted the role. However, the greatest gift was to bring her into my world and share this stage with her. I’ll treasure this moment forever.

I started writing again today. First time in a long time. Just finished a rough outline on my WIP. I spent a lot of last year, self medicating to numb my feelings which stifled my creativity. Stopped this month and as scary as it’s been, I found my true outlet in writing again.

This film also inspired a sense of hope. Obviously the 60s were such a charged time socially and politically, and as we enter a period of increased division, I’m reminded and hopeful that people will awaken and find resistance and protest, and that art can be such a powerful conduit for that.

Tonights film. Stellar performances across the board. I loved hearing James Mangold speak about the need for more films that wear their heart on their sleeves. This delivered that. Something I aspire to in my own work. Put your feelings on the line and let your audience feel it too. Loved it.

Auditioning can often be a brutal grind of a process, and if you allow it, the creativity and spark of your craft can quickly be sucked out of your work. It can wear you down. Today I found a real sense of joy and love in my work. Hopefully it reflects on screen. Regardless, it feels like a win.
