Today we said goodbye to Vikki Soloman, a proud mum and a much loved friend and neighbour. She won’t be defined by the way she died but Vikki was one of at least 3 Scottish women killed by current or former partners last month. We have eradicate male violence in this country. Rest in Power, Vikki.

It should be no surprise that my party has been banging the drum for a closer relationship with Europe – internationalism is in our DNA as liberals.

What is in question is whether the Labour government can wake up and let go of its outdated “red lines” on Europe. The sooner they do so, the better for us all.

Ten years of Brexit have been the lesson in the practical costs of isolationism. Now is the time to link arms again with our neighbours – and reap the benefits.

This week marks 9 years since the Grenfell fire. Only 149 out of 1,000 buildings in Scotland suspected of having dangerous cladding have been investigated. Staggeringly, cladding removal is is underway in only 3 buildings in this country.

Many highland schools are struggling to recruit permanent staff, yet at the same time the conditions that PSAs face are terrible. If we want people to make their lives in the highlands, then there need to be permanent contracts and affordable housing for key workers.

In the final analysis it was the Lib Dems who perhaps did more than any other party to thwart the nationalist march to 65 seats.

The Lib Dems gained the new Edinburgh Northern seat, and took Strathkelvin & Bearsden, Caithness, Sutherland & Ross and Skye, Lochaber & Badenoch from the nationalists.

They were all seen internally by the SNP as key waypoints on the route to a majority.
