🌹♻️ My new article in Current Sociology theorises everyday struggle in relation to environmentalism. I argue that caring for the environment is part of everyday struggle, which is not only about resistance but also about the co-creation of alternatives. Read here: doi.org/10.1177/0011...

Delighted to share 4’2025 issue of journal INTER, which I edited. It covers the current debates on ethnographic methods, grassroots eco-mobilisation after the fuel oil spill in the Black Sea, and green professions in Russia. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! www.inter-fnisc.ru/index.php/in...

New book review on ‘The urban life of workers in post-Soviet Russia’ by sociologist Claudio Morrison https://doi.org/10.1111/russ.12697

“Through a multidimensional analysis of “workers’ urban life and everyday struggles”, Alexandrina Vanke aims to counter dismissive attitudes toward subordinate groups by showing how they resist a hostile neoliberal world in multiple creative ways. Rejecting notions of “Russian workers’ patience” based on narrow understandings of class conflict in terms of industrial conflict, the author provides examples of creative resistance inspired by a practical consciousness embedded in class-based imaginaries that reveal their awareness of a deeply divided and unequal social structure.”
