Orthorexia? Superficial values upheld by society to oppress women? Oh ok, apparently it’s proctitis that means she can only eat bison meat and certain organic vegetables. Righto then.

Also interestingly, and I could just be unable to see it, I can’t find any way to look at historical satellite images in google earth any more. These are googles instructions on how to do it, but I can’t see this function in the app anywhere
Q Historical imagery D - : A On this page Related resources Current imagery automatically displays in Google Earth. To discover how images have changed over time or view past versions of a map on a timeline: 1. On your device, open Google Earth. 2. Search for places. 3. From the Royal Canadian Air Force’s ‘ Plan for Physical Fitness’, 1962. Hard to argue with any of this:
Why You Should Be Fit Research has shown that: the physically fit person is able to withstand fatigue for longer periods. than the unfit; the physically fit person is better equipped to tolerate physical stress; the physically fit person has a stronger and more efficient heart; and here is a relations tension, end good maltalalertness. and physical fitness. REMEMBER THAT: weak stomach muscles cause sagging abdomens; and weak back muscles are a major cause of back pain.

If only I’d known I could just write “GAofB”, my editing career might have looked different. More from David Sedaris #bookstodon
A paragraph from David Sedaris’s The Land and its People, which reads: Then there's the British poet Philip Larkin. He published his first book right out of the gate, at the age of twenty-three, while his Oxford friend Kingsley Amis kept getting rejected. In 1953 Amis asked if Larkin might read the latest draft of his novel Lucky Jim and make comments. The manuscript still exists and includes the poet's abbreviated handwritten notes "HSofA" (horrible smell of ass) and "GAofB" (gruesome aroma of bum). I think every editor should adopt these.

Well, this is horrifying if true. Chemist Warehouse (large Australian pharmacy retail chain) is making staff members wear AI-enabled cameras to monitor in-store activity. Cameras that will, presumably, film prescription and point of sale data and send it […] [Original post on theforkiverse.com]
Screenshot of a post from the ‘legal advice Australia’ subreddit, titled ‘Being made to capture very personal information for AI scheme’. Body copy reads: Location: Melbourne. Hi, I work at Chemist Warehouse in Australia, from the 22nd of June 2026 I along with other employees are being required to assist with a special AI “zone” which captures the entire store with the goal of “helping stock management”. This requires at least 4 separate retail floor members to wear a AI camera around our necks for a minimum of 12 hours a working day. This camera will be capturing all things happening in the store, AUGMODO “promises” they don’t use any personal info, they show a blurred image of a customer on their advertisement page, which may be all well and good for supermarket uses. Where my worry comes into place is the Pharmacy, as someone who occasionally works on the register, I frequently deal with patient prescriptions and repeats in my view, with Full names, addresses and medications of the customers/ patients in my view, am I violating people’s rights by wearing this camera and in turn at risk of being in trouble. No one deserves their privacy infringed and I don’t think im in need of help more than the patients but id still like to be clear. Thank youSecond screenshot of a comment from the same poster: Thank you I appreciate the insight, there’s definitely a lot too it which if I’m honest I don’t has been thought out, there’s are at least 8 other Chemist warehouse locations in my locations having this system set up in this coming week and I worry for everyone using this his business for their private medications. I do wish to spread a bit of awareness of this as in my opinion this seems like a rushed start up which has been propelled by a $35 million dollar tribute from CWH corporate, I will attempt some news platforms but if they’re are any other places I can spread this anyone please let me know.

I knew Fairfax had gone to the dogs but this framing of AI assistants driving increased sales despite customers having less disposable income as a good-news story is really and truly evil.
Screenshot of a paragraph from a news piece in The Sydney Morning Herald, published by Fairfax Media, that reads “AI tools such as Buddy – and “Joy” at Kmart – have also encouraged shoppers to buy more, Scott says, improving conversion rates and increasing basket sizes. That has been crucial at a time when Australian customers have been feeling cost-of-living pressures from inflation and higher interest rates, which have squeezed spending and presented a challenge for many businesses.”
