@mongoosepublishing.bsky.social Finally getting around to listening to my backer copy of the Frontier music CD, and really enjoying it. Track 11 sounds as though Top Gun had a baby with ECCO the Dolphin, and I am all in for that.

Looks like 15mm wide and 2mm thick. Would the 17mm tray work with these or will they be about loose please?

@microsoft.com What kind of an abomination is this registration security tool? I have done it multiple times now and it keeps saying it is wrong. Often the icons overlap and cover each other, they are rotated, and the orbital belts are not clear.
Appalling Microsoft captcha tool that is likely in breach of most equality laws as it makes it so difficult for those with visual impairments or learning difficulties to sign up.

I'm not going to describe it in too much detail but it involves multiple, often overlapping lines and symbols that you have to get into the right positions even though they regularly cover each other up and it is not clear where the lines go either at points. The symbols are also rotated and very indistinct compared to the large example you have to match to.

Book cover of The Famous Five: Five on a Treasure Island, by Enid Blyton. Book 1 in the series.

The cover shows a beach at low tide, with very low water going up from the bottom of the page till the sand becomes visible.

To the left there is the old and rotted wooden hull of a ship, beached on the sand and against the edge of a rocky outcrop. The rocky, grass covered mound rises up from the sand to the right of the cover. A wispy cloud is passing overhead, with the sky otherwise a brilliant blue.

4 children, two boys and two girls, are centred in the image, running away from your perspective and turning to look back as they run. They are running on the area covered by the water, hence why it is obviously very low tide and barely more than a skin of water covering the sand at that point, as their shoes are fully visible and not covered at all. A black dog with some white patches, around the size of a border collie, is chasing after the children, but it is not the dog they are looking back at and it appears to be with them rather than a threat. The children are all wearing jeans and shirts, with the boy on the right also wearing a light sports jacket.

Book cover of Foundation, by Isaac Asimov.

The image shows a large spaceship against a light blue background with a dust cloud across most of the background. Beneath the spaceship is a reflective surface, possibly the ring of a planet.

Book cover of Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Tagline at the bottom says The Classic Novel of One Boy's Detiny Among The Stars.

The image shows a rocky airless moon-like world covered in craters and surrounded by a ring of small objects, possibly debris or ships. The moon appears to be orbiting close to a brilliant mostly white larger body that fills most of the image. In the bottom left a reclined cockpit type seat is extended out on two arms, with a figure sitting in it and facing toward the moon.

Book cover of Wild Swans, Three Daughters of China, bu Jung Chang.

The cover has the appearance of paper embossed with what appear to be flowers. In the top right are three portrait photos in a vertical stack, each of a woman. The top photo is an older woman with her hair tied back and wearing a high necked dark top. The middle image is a younger woman, with her hair cut short, dressed in military style clothing, wearing a cap with a star badge. The bottom image is a young woman with long dark hair mostly hanging down to her left side, wearing a more informal lower necked top and a necklace.

Book cover of The Colour of Magic, by Terry Pratchett. Has the additional tagline of The First Discworld Novel.

The cover has an image of a flight of stone stairs leading up to an open door. Through the door has just come a group of three muscular shirtless humanoids with small pointed horns on top of their heads, wielding double headed axes. Some smaller figures are running down the stairs and around at the bottom of the stairs. A large wooden chest with lots of small legs is running around at the base of the stairs knocking the smaller figures down, while another group watches on. A reaper's scythe can be seen poking in from the side of the scene.

Book cover of Ringworld by Larry Niven.

The image has a sea and island view at the bottom, with a massive high peaked mountain in the distance. However, this only occupies the bottom 1/5 or so of the book cover, with the rest being sky and clouds, darkening as you look higher. Running vertically from the horizon and up off the top of the image is a thin band that narrows as it gets higher, with darker sections breaking up lighter portions.

Game cover for Stars! by Empire Interactive. The game manual had the same image.

The centre is a round thick lined red circle with the word "Stars!" inside it and the sunlit curve of a planetary horizon from one side to the other.

Surrounding this central circle are images from space including Martian volcanoes, the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. Lightning is arcing out of the circle and across the images.

Book cover of The Magic Faraway Tree, by Enid Blyton.

The cover is yellow and shows two children with rosy cheeks standing at the base of a tree. The children are young, one boy and one girl. The girl has short reddish hair tied back with a white headband, and is wearing a pink short sleeved top. The boy has short black hair, and is wearing a green short sleeved top and blue jeans.

There is a small partially open door set in the tree, surrounded by large mushrooms and small flowers. The door is made of rough wood and is curved over at the top. The children are waving at and talking to a small person with large pointed ears, a long flowing white beard, and a green nightcap-like headpiece, who is poking his head out of the door and smiling at the children.

Book cover of The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, by H.P. Lovecraft and published by Penguin Books under their Modern Classics line.

The image is a blurred view looking through the top left corner of a door frame into the corner of a room. Inside the room there is a window with a large wooden surrounding frame and two arms reaching up against it with the hands spread against the glass.

Book cover for The Long Patrol, A Tale of Redwall, by Brian Jacques.

In the background there is a large crowd of shadowed animals holding a variety of weapons, including axes, pitchforks, halberds, and torches.

At the front of the image are three well lit hares with one slightly in front of the other two. The rear pair are wearing red military cut jackets with gold trim and black belts. The hare on the left is holding a flaming torch, while the hare on the right wields a slightly curved sword. The hare in the front and centre also holds a slightly curved sword, held aloft, and is dressed in a smarter blue military jacket, covered in medals.

Two more hares can be seen just behind these three, with one holding aloft a red pennant adorned with a large capital R, apparently for Redwall Abbey.

Low bushes are to the sides, with trees in the far background, and with a large full moon slightly obscured by clouds in the sky above the hares.

Book cover of Rendezvous with Rama, by Arthur C. Clarke and released by Pan.

The cover is a black background with a very abstract swirl of spinning circles in the lower half and the text above. The circles are white and orange, smeared in with the black background. The spinning visual effect is likely meant to be a representation of a rotating spacecraft.

Book cover of Gardens of the Moon, a Tale of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steven Erikson.

The cover shows a robed and darkly shadowed figure standing atop a rocky outcrop with their back to you. They are holding aloft a sword from which a bolt of lightning zigzags down to the sandy coloured plains below.

In the background past the figure sits a walled city with many squat square towers flying pennants, and a single larger tower on a hill with a golden crescent moon fixed with its points facing the sky. Smoke winds up from the city and covers a large portion of the sky, where a large moon hangs above the city, some stars scattered behind and above it.
