Sunsets on the water hit differently

A view of the setting sun from a stateroom on a lake freighter Stewart J. Cort. The Cort has recently turned on a westerly direction towards the twin ports of Duluth/Superior after leaving the sanctuary of Whitefish Bay on Lake Superior. The remaining cloud cover of a brief rain shower can be seen shrouding the sun from view.

Working on the Great Lakes has its fair share of excitement. Wildfire smoke so thick that we’re using the fog horn was not on my bingo card.

@kirohusky.bsky.social did an absolutely amazing job on this character page for me! The sailor outfit isn't just for show, I really should get some more artwork depicting shipboard life. Having this guy around to depict such things is nice too!

A character page depicting an anthropomorphic red fox, a few poses depict him wearing a sailor outfit, a pose with him wearing glasses, and a couple of silly poses.

Foxy Seafarer. I think I look pretty good in sailor outfits. Gotten a lovely lockscreen for my phone from @dendenart.eu

Snow. Meanwhile I probably look ridiculous walking on deck wearing just overalls and a couple of shirts for layers. We do have tunnels below for times when the weather is bad or you just don’t feel like putting on a show.

This wonderful piece of art by @stardustfox.bsky.social is meant to depict myself and the ship I work on. It turned out amazing. Having something pretty awesome to mark the occasion of my first time working onboard a ship.

Sometimes when you are working on the dock you get bored and snap a picture or two. Trying to fit the whole ship in the picture is a challenge.

Boat butt! The Stern of the Oberstar while loading at Sandusky. The tip of the propeller can be seen poking out of the water.

There is something more romantic about the sunrise and sunset viewed from a ship on the water. Even if it’s a ship that will never sail on the ocean.
