Unsettling stories that are fiercely alive (even when the characters are dead). Often found wandering the mountains near Calgary, Canada.

A relevant question! Unstoppered liquids could easily spill and interrupt the summoning circle. Wait, my bad. I thought you said "demon summoning."

I wonder if the spammers are primarily targeting new indie authors, and just have a general list of authors that they're running the machine through.

Taking notes on what form the magpies will accept tribute in. Can't believe I didn't think of the branches!

I always saw it as an anniversary thing in the past, so I'll second your definition.

@thegirlwhodreams.bsky.social Late public transport introducing you to social media platforms? Rude of it.

Me, every time I put "with" in a working title: [typing into search engine]: - with in title capitalised - oxford style with in title capitalised - oxford style with in title fiction novel - oxford style prepositions in title fiction novel (The answer is no.)

Sources say that at press time, unknown reporters were spotted rolling a golden apple in the vague direction of social media users.

Oh, I LOVE this guy. And the figure looks so intricate, too.

And it worked out for everyone, really.

She's a nurse kitty, really. Showed up at the doorstep and has spent the years since trying to keep an ADHD household on a schedule!

I have a few jokes about Mass Effect, but Samara better than others.

We will not be broken (i.e., they can't make us use the app!) But I do find that here and elsewhere, the mobile site tends to be less stable than either the app and desktop site.

I'd encourage you to! Sometimes, I get caught in a loop where I'm upset that I can't be productive, and I push myself, but it doesn't get me anywhere and just drains my reserves further. And then my other cat tries to convince me to stop by getting up to mischief.

Yeah, I get that. I have a cat with a chronic health issue, and when it flares up that can make it really difficult to push through my own. Maybe you just need a break until that shot kicks in?

I have a joke about Dragon Age: Inquisition, but when I bring up the war table it tends to drag on

That one was just a good reason to log off, although it happened a couple weeks ago. Today, I'm just taking a short break from reading a book, and I have some website stuff to get through. What usually works for you, when you get stuck?

Mobile, although in seriousness, I tend to give the devs a lot of grace because I'm logged in with a browser rather than the app.

Specifically via a land war, if I recall correctly. I logged into a fan account one day and everyone was vagueposting about the same thing. The internet is very stressful.

I was having issues uploading a photo over the weekend, and I am noticing in the last couple days that sometimes photos don't load on my timeline. This sure is a webbed site.

I think this is just evidence that the software sucks. Although I've noticed that sometimes employees are just committed to giving customers the win in these situations, because we all gotta eat.

I support a body's right to pseudonymously review onion rings, but probably keeping those accounts separate would have been a better idea. 😂

The ENDING of this book, man. And the lead-up to it! A demon and an angel, over three hundred years of rebuilding a city he and his kin destroyed. The way having someone's heart inside yours changes you irrevocably...

This is my main takeaway when it comes to chatbots running LLMs. The proliferation of the tech, the belief that it can accomplish miracles? All due to deliberate design choices that hack the way we're psychologically attuned to things that seem to talk to us. #antiAI

There's nothing like autumn in the foothills. I found bear tracks as I headed down to the river, too.
On a cloudless day, a river with a rocky shore, cliffs rising from the banks pine, trees growing on the steep slopes

I have fond memories of the Doon Heritage Village in Kitchener, especially when they run events in the evenings with apple cider and bonfires (and blacksmithing demonstrations!)

Every time I read a new Leigh Bardugo book, I want to eat it. Incidentally, the local bookstore dropped Dead Beat on my doorstep and I am having emotions.

Currently leaning heavily toward Joplin as a recommendation. The free version is the best of the bunch (using a free Dropbox account).

I think there's something really special in a story that can show the pain blossoming outward like a storm, where the characters struggle against each other and their own understanding, unable to reach for each other when the world beyond them is full of endless, hungry eyes. 5/6 🩸📚

In contrast, a man who's no longer the breadwinner in his household spends his days lying to his wife; currying favour with religious men (and venture capitalists) with their own agendas; and seeking out ideologies that affirm his anxieties, entitlement, and violent actions. 4/6

These characters see their truth, and they need to hold onto it so tightly. (Minor spoilers ahead.) A teenage girl afraid of her father might be sent to a psychiatrist, heavily medicated, and told that her concerns aren't real. She's crazy. In her craziness, she can conveniently be dismissed. 3/6

14 year-old Marjorie tells herself (and her little sister, the narrator), that she's in control. It's hard to believe, considering the sheer number of adults who are determined to control her thoughts and actions, and seem barely able to imagine that she might read Lovecraft and Nabokov. 2/6

Horror book appreciation: When life spins out of control and a character frantically acts to construct a narrative where they ARE in control, Paul Tremblay's A Head Full of Ghosts is a beautiful example of how the icy core of that pain will spread. 1/6 🩸📚 #booksky

A lot creative work is already being called porn. Book banners are calling books with queer people simply existing "porn" to get them pulled out of schools and libraries. We are in this together whether you like it or not. Solidarity is the only way to fight.

I call it unconscionable to put the artist in a position of greater risk while explicitly sticking their heads in the sand about their stated values.

Wow. That's so performative on their part? And artists have enough problems claiming expenses against grant income on their taxes as it is???

I think that might be why I didn't click well with these movies. In the modern era, are kids not allowed to imagine themselves as an anonymous, masked superhero?
