albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 24/09/2026There are only 8 teams in the MLB with better road records than home records: Boston, Cleveland, Houston, Yankees, Baltimore, Philadelphia, St Louis, Mets And some of these are razor thin margins and could change. Even the bad teams, some of them have winning records at home. I think it matters. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Why should they have any loyalty? Loyalty just means taking a pay cut and allowing some billionaire to keep the change. 200

albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I don’t think so. The idea is they always have the same grip going into the glove so an adjustment out of the split is less awkward and hopefully doesn’t tip anyone. Jamming fingers around the ball inside the glove would be more visible. 120
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Most splitter pitchers always start split grip as it’s less of a tip to get out of split grip than into it in the glove. 100

albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 20/08/2026I finally re-watched the end of game 7 in March. 9th inning and beyond was absolutely nuts. They had a solid 4 chances to win that game and somehow didn’t. Absolutely wild… it was definitely not an easy watch but it’s helped me understand why the 2026 jays all seemed so broken most of the year. 010
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 12/08/2026I think Vlad was traumatized by coming thiiiis close to the WS at home and losing. There has to be something to him hitting with zero power at home. Or maybe I’m just trying to write a narrative with a guy who is maybe slightly injured and stubborn. But I think it’s all mental and emotional for him. 000

albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Fluharty famously struck out Ohtani and got Mookie to ground out for his first career save last summer in LA. I remember something in the post game interview about him saying he blacked out. 120

albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 11/08/2026One of the weirdest things I’ve seen in a game. Love baseball!! 010
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 11/08/2026I thought the same thing, but I’m looking into it, a tag up isn’t a force out, it’s a tag/appeal play. So the only way to get that runner out is tagging or appealing at the base. Before that tag/appeal is made, a runner can score. In this case a throw to 3rd negates the run but they didn’t do it. 110
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Yeah, the whole thing was so weird. I was an umpire for about 10 years in my late teens to late 20s at a decently big level, umpiring provincial championships, etc. and these were always the weird scenarios they’d talk about in training but like you’d never think to see this in an MLB game. 010
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Jays could have still thrown to third but they had no idea what was going on either. Hell, I didn’t until I watched it 3 times, looked up that a tag up isn’t a force out and worked it all out, and I used to be an umpire for 10 years. These are the weird scenarios they’d always talk about. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 11/08/2026The only way you’re out is if the appeal is made at 3rd (or runner tagged on their way home). Jays didn’t appeal so no out. It’s weird but was technically correct. 110
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Strangely they totally got this right. Still super weird. Jays could have thrown to 1st then 3rd but they didn’t. Or thrown to 3rd only and it would have been end of the inning. But… in the grand scheme of things, jays got a free out and that run likely scores anyway on a normal tag up. 100
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Seems like it’s mental and not physical. I wonder how much there is to the fact that they came thiiiis close to their goal last year and lost it in heartbreaking fashion. It seems like he needs to get his head right, the body is probably fine 110
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 03/08/20262023 showed that this type of player will get you knocked out in the wild card round without scoring runs. 2025 showed that only with adding power to that defence does a team have any shot at going deeper in the playoffs. 010
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 30/07/2026A rotation built for the postseason. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 24/07/2026It’s not that they don’t know where a force out is. It’s the fact that it’s a force at home on a dropped third strike. I was an ump for 10 years when I was younger and have never even thought of this as a play but it totally makes sense. 100
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 21/07/2026You can usually count on one hand the number of games a manager has say lost for their team in any given season and even that is a stretch as there’s no way to know what the reliever or pinch hitter would have done next. Coaching matters but I think fans just like palatable narratives. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Yeah, agreed and can the CPBC win anything while only targeting grievances? I don’t know? It’s all very odd. 100
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 19/07/2026I wonder this sometimes with the method of any political communication. But a specific example is Poilievre’s recent letter demanding details about the bridge in Windsor. What is the point in trying to turn it into a wedge issue? The bridge will be open and will help the economy, why not celebrate? 100
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Barger was pretty helpful offensively last year, so was Springer and Kirk. And technically Santander was supposed to provide some value this year. I think that was the whole list of major contributors from 2025 who were injured this year. Pitching rotation obviously decimated. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Yep it sure was but AA dumped it onto the Angels who were more than happy to take it on so it doesn’t have the same stink on it as some others. 100
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 17/07/2026Probably Roark, BJ Ryan had one amazing year but free agent investment in leverage relief is usually a fool’s game. Santander will definitely be the worst one with the current up and coming challenger being Vlad though his potential means he likely won’t be this bad forever. 200
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Nance out of options and mostly mid to low leverage guy. Meh, they probably just like the high A catcher. 120
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Yes-ish. With this many injuries to potential key contributors. It’s not easy to replace what Barger produced last year or what Ponce/Garcia/Lauer/Berrios/probably more I’m forgetting were supposed to produce this year. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 02/07/2026It’s honestly impressive he called such a good game in that blowout. 000
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 08/06/2026They already have ‘a guy’, Willie MacIver, in Buffalo on the 40 man so they’ve got the position back filled already as insurance in case one of the current catchers went down but he could be insurance if they keep Valenzuela up and DFA Heineman. 130
albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 08/06/2026Sanchez also doesn’t have options, in the same boat as Heineman. 110

albertowhite.bsky.social @albertowhite.bsky.social · 20/03/2026Never even thought of the bench issue. In my head I assumed they had space for everyone you named but they’re totally 1 over. Such a conundrum. Obviously spring stats are meaningless, but Jimenez is the only backup SS. My vote goes for Lukes or Sanchez hitting the phantom IL. 120
