A new preprint w/ @landismj.bsky.social that I’m excited to share! We develop a theoretical framework linking evolutionary scenarios to mathematical constraints on parameters that produce given stationary frequencies in state-dependent speciation-extinction models. We call these “rulesets.” #EvoBio

A great way to end the evening! Thank you to everyone at the math dept at Undana for inviting me to give a public lecture on modelling infectious diseases. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm from both students and faculty, and a pleasure to give back. Lots of familiar faces, too! 😊

11 yrs ago, an 18 yo me had just presented my undergrad thesis. A photo with my advisors and examiner—amazing scholars and wonderful people who helped shape my academic journey. 11 yrs later, I’ll be back (virtually) to give a public lecture to highly motivated undergrads. Always good to give back 😊

Yesterday I gave a seminar at WashU’s Ecology and Evolutionary Biology on our recent study, modeling how infectious diseases are “pushed” vs. “pulled” into communities by travellers. Always enjoyable to talk about research! 😊 Slides for those interested: sites.google.com/view/albert-... #evobio

Excited to be presenting at the EEB seminar at WashU this week! I'll be talking about our recent work on how host movement shapes the geographic spread of infectious diseases and how we can use phylogenies to learn about these dynamics. Looking forward to sharing this work!

Working on a revision for a biology-focused paper, and somehow ended up with proving propositions and lemmas 😅. Sadly, they all will need to go to the supplement.
