Made this last night - plums, peaches and a sprinkle of blueberries. And there’s very thin layer of almond paste on the bottom to protect the crust.

We got both our seasonal flu and Covid shots yesterday. Mine was one in each arm. We were concerned that this wouldn’t happen before our trip to France, but Kaiser came through!

Was listening to Georges Bizet's symphony in c this afternoon. The Scottish influence in the third movement caught my attention, and I decided to look him up. I think he was pretty hot, along with his mentor, Charles Gounod. Alas, he was not gay... Pics from Wikipedia.

While in Maine, we made it up to the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. Besides the Wyeth works, a show by Benjamin Spaulding was also there. So happy we got to see it. Meaningful too since the artist is too young to have experienced the era in person. www.farnsworthmuseum.org/exhibition/b...

We’ve been on the Maine coast all week visiting with old friends. We went to a very good crafts fair in Portland on Saturday, where I bought this small broom, made by redmondphilbert.com

One of my all-time favorite albums is Trio, with songs sung by Linda Rondstadt, Emmylou Harris, and Dolly Parton. The harmonies were exquisite. youtu.be/NEE9RFDniN0?...

On our walk along Commonwealth Avenue we came across this installation of “The Great Elephant Migration.” The residents of this village in India hand crafted full-size wood sculptures of each elephant in the herd that coexists with them. Made from the branches of an invasive plant, each one is named

We had a very enjoyable but busy time in Boston. Lots of walking and video with old friends. One of the things that occurred to me is although built around the same time, San Francisco had tons of wood to express the Victorian look, while Boston had piles of rocks and stones to do the same.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped at the Calder Gardens. Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, it’s a small gem with just a few Calder pieces.

We are now on our east coast trip. We spent a few days in Philadelphia, my home town. Barely recognizable to me as downtown was bustling. We stayed near Rittenhouse square; it reminded me of what I appreciated about the town - history, arts, and urbane. We took a stroll to the Art Museum.

Were they worth 1.5 million? Chat amongst yourselves. I liked the big boy boat with the appropriate mascot. And there were cats involved.

Last weekend we drove up to Lake Tahoe to spend a few days with our friends, Thom and Adrian. One of the things we did was to go to a very fancy motorized wooden boat show. The oldest was from 1910, and the newest Italian models on display had very little.

Next week, the LGBTQ film committee where I live is going to be screening the film "Assembly." We'll be interviewing the creator, Rashaad Newsome and his husband/filmmaker, Johnny Symonds. 😍 A short version is currently available on PBS, but not sure for how long. assemblythefilm.com

Found this a while ago while going down the rabbit hole on-line. It's a pic from an International Bear Rendezvous excursion to Moscone Center in San Francisco, probably late nineties. The photo might have been taken by Lynn Ludwig, but I am not certain. I'm in the back row. Wow!

Last week we saw the Matisse’s Femme au Chapeau show at SFMOMA. Good show, but this portrait of Matisse by André Derain in 1905 is what caught my eye.
