Whittier Alaska's new cruise ship dock has been described as a "total loss." It cost $80 million to build and welcomed its first cruise ship in September 2024. 2 years later, it's destroyed by a fire and had not a SINGLE WORKING FIRE HYDRANT when the fire broke out. Hope some heads roll over this.

The Symphony of Ages series, by Elizabeth Haydon. It's not the best I've read, by a long shot; there are a lot of things about it that haven't aged well, but it's also far from the worst. Ultimately, I'm enjoying it, and that's really the important thing.
