Halloween looms again! 👻 My “The Last Science Fiction Story” debuted in #DarkMatterMagazine ’s Halloween 2021 issue. It’s a chilling, unique first contact story from the protagonist-author’s POV. It enabled me to join #SFWA as a professional SF author—a dream since I read my first #SF novel. 1/5

The image of a wide-eyed, distraught, frightened, wide-eyed, middle-aged, Caucasian man. The tips of his fingers are digging into both sides of the flesh of his jaw.

The story title is shown under the picture, along with the author’s and the narrator’s names, and the first two sentences of the story:

Sorry for my delay. The #ScifaikuSaturday #prompt for 19/20-09-2026 is #FRAGILE How prescient I must have been when I compiled this months’s list on 28-08. I’m in hospital right now recovering👌🤞. #AmWriting #BlueSkyPoetry #Haiku #MicroPoem #Poetry #PoetryCommunity #SciFi #SFF #WritingPrompts

On a black and star field background, a non-AI tagged Pixabay image of an android is shown. The android seems to be contemplating the #ScifaikuSaturday hashtag. A blue, rectangle outline highlights the image and hashtag.

Wonderful Fantaiku, Woodley! 👏🏼❤️ But if things had played out differently, maybe the movie could have been a whole lot shorter! 😝

❤️ Earth’s shadow representing a “hostile takeover”? Love the theme! Now, how do I use it in a story? 🤔 In the meantime, here’s my “Lunar Mood Ring” pic of Friday’s total lunar eclipse taken from southwest Florida. I think it’s better than those overdone “Ring of Fire” solar eclipses. 😏 Thoughts?

Nano Banana 2 made the image and the two corrections. While it implemented the key elements, but there wasn’t much drama. Here’s a one-prompt version using ChatGPT using the same prompt without edits. More drama, yes? I’m short on $ to get better tools. I make do with these two image generators.

Beautiful and sad. 🙏🏻 #1: A hopefully original AI image using the key elements. Not certain what caused the tool to show the castaways without foot coverings and why it added lines in the constellations, but it’s an interesting interpretation. #2: The tool removed those items. IYO which is better?

So, I tested the meme 👆and Gemini passed with flying analytical colors. Row 1 has a several descriptive mistakes, but the counts are correct 🫪 I need to rethink my escape-room tactics concerning AI. 😱

See the image for the haiku sequence and image credit. * Inspired by a response to Champie’s (@champierth.bsky.social) recent “spear” haiku. 🙏🏻 #Fantaiku #spear #Fantasy #Haiku

The image is of a wooded and rock-strewn field, with towering mountains in the distance, beneath a tempest, morning sky. A Viking with an axe stands next to Odin, who glows with an otherworldly halo. They stand together at the center of the image. In foreground lying on a large rock rests his spear, Gungnir, which shares Odin’s halo.

This text overlays the image:

Odin looked at me
“You need not be my equal!”
I picked up Gungnir

Heaved into the sky
The charmed spear hit its target
I cheered with a god

👏🏼👏🏼❤️ A world with sweet potatoes wearing sun hats! No longer an impossible dream… I asked Gemini | NanoBanana to “Create an original image of a large field populated by sweet potatoes wearing sun hats.” AI is scary and also funny…

Picture this!

An old man, wearing a flowery, tropical collared shirt and dark, tan shorts, is reclining in his lanai lounger, drinking a cocktail, and listening to tunes on an old-fashioned, transistor radio.

He is looking out at a dark, crater-strewn moonscape and an immense galaxy in the black sky beyond.

Three luminous aliens hover in the distance blocking the galaxy. The old man is waving his fist and shouting, “Hey, you U.D. kids* Get off my private moonscape!Youth never listens”

Thank you, Jason, for publishing The Rains of Mundus Aquae in June’s “Contact” issue of SciFanSat! I appreciated your editorial intro: “Alan Vincent Michaels’ The Rains of Mundus Aquae is a classic demonstration of how the best-laid plans might not survive first contact.” 🙏🏻 A “classic,” you say? 😉

(I love those two kids with their existential thinking, and I haven’t even met them. 💯) I think it can be both. When a spirit visits those left behind on Earth, being a “ghost” is an excellent way to present. Being a “star,” however, would NOT be the best Earthly presentation! LL🌟
